Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I manage to buy Gift Cards, back in March had to send my bitcoins to someone with a MTGox account and that person sent me the funds through Dwolla. I know this was more than 6 months ago.

I paid a couple of ladies to put on a show, I donated to software development and tomorrow I'll send someone .1 for winning a comp.

If you're going to spend it makes sense to spend during a bubble as your money buys more. However I suspect people will generally do the opposite.

Recently I've bought:

Steam games
Physical crypos of bitcoin and alts
1.1 bitcoins on 2 rounds of drinks and food at the haymakers in Cambridge

I spent roughly 5BTC on ASIC mining hardware.

I also bought a primecoin, I forget what I paid for it tho, 1BTC maybe?

Did the same. No regrets. Replaced the spent bitcoins.
