My wallet unexpectedly closed and now I have to reindex everything and I am getting this message: WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

I went on nd got the latest wallet any ideas on what I can do please?

First calm down. Panicking is not going to help anybody.

What does it say in help > about > debug (maybe)? It displays the block count there so if the number is increasing it must be downloading new blocks and all you have to do is wait.

If it is not downloading then try running it with the -rescan command line switch. That is

bitcoin-qt -rescan

Finally if all else fails you can extract the private keys using pywallet and import them into a new wallet.

Hi went to the debug and it says 135981 which it what it says on the main wallet blue bar underneath when you hover over it and it doesn't change. Thank you for the help and I am trying not to panic honestly. How do I do the rescan? Just open the console window and literally type -rescan?
I know my bit coins are safe (well I hope) because they show in block chain and I have multiple back ups of my wallet.

You have to run it via the command line with -rescan added to the name of the executable. I don't use macs but I do know they have a terminal program so you start that up and type in this:

bitcoin-qt -rescan

Alternatively if you have a short cut link to bitcoin-qt then you can edit the properties of that and add -rescan to the command. Do you have shortcuts in mac??
