I have a rig with 4 AMD 550 Gpus, had a Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W , I was told the brand might of been the problem.
Getting a 1200W PS to replace it.
I can't get the specs on the Wattage for the GPUs, I've seen 200w per AMD 580. Anyone know about that?
Anyone run 4 GPUS with a 1200W Power Supply? Or even 5?
Thanks.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

A correctly overclocked/undervolted RX580 consumes around 120W mining ETH and less mining XMR

if i'm not wrong, 4x rx 580 is running even with 750 watt psu (after mod surely). but that will be risky perhabs. 850 watt psu maybe the best choice for this quad rx580 setup but a thousand or more watt psu is good, if you want to add more gpu in the future beside it's overkill, it has more cable that make the rig less cluttered especially with gold class psu, that surely build with better quality.

Cant you just buy a cheap Watt-Meter that you plug in your outlet? They are really cheap and you can buy them literally at every local hardware store (hardware as in building hardware, not computer hardware ). Buy yes, to answer your question you should be fine.

Your post says AMD 550 GPUs. Those are really low power like 50 watts. If thats a typo and you have instead rx 580s you still don't need to worry. If you bios mod and undervolt them correctly you should be able to run them at around 100-120 watts each. A 1200w PSU is overkill at that point but may still also be a good invest if you want to expand your rig in the future. Just google guides on how to bios mod and undervolt.

If you look at TDP every RX580 card has 185W in fact, the power consumption of each card is not 185W if under-volt. Anyone run 4 GPUS with a 1200W Power Supply? Or even 5?
yes my mining rig runs 5 GPU(RX580 8GB) with 1200W so far without any problems

For 1200w you can run 6 rx570 or rx580 after bios mod and undervolt. so if you have 4 rx550 gpu's I think 750w PSU would be enough try to use the GPU-Z from techpowerup here https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/And monitor the power consumption and do a stress test. The other tools are to use a miner the mining software like bminer or claymore or ccminer it should show the wattage consumption of your graphics card. In my own miner I have Nvidia cards 1080 ti and I am using bminer it shows the power consumption so If you could run a mining software you can find the answer about your question.

All my 8 card rigs run on HX1000i PSU's - So 1200w is plenty fine for 4 cards..

I think you should be pretty ok with your 1500W psu, and even if you change it to 1200W there won't 'be a probelm but why do you want to do that? do you have some problems with power on your rig? look, properly tuned rx480/rx580 with low voltage sucks from PSU about 115-125W only, so 4 of them will draw 500W only! hell, rx 550 chip consumes even less then that, I guess less then a 100 watt!!! you do have plenty of power to build the rig of 6 such cards!

Toughpower not so bad PSU at all. Much better than KCAS or Zalman cheap models. 1200 can handle 6 gpus, but consumption depends on concrete model of gpus, for example, my Gigabyte 5x580s consume 900w from the wall. You need to test your gpus

What algos are this on? Im doing eth/xmr mining at sub 900w for 8xrx580's (Sapphire Nitro)..

I run my rig on ETHos, what do you run yours to undervolt your cards? Seems possible in windows and not in ETHos
