Blockchain has firmly secured its status of a buzzword for numerous industries. Some reported instances when simple adding of the word ‘blockchain’ to the title of a company caused its stocks to triple their value.

However, buzzword or not, it is spreading, and more and more projects pop up using blockchain not as a clickbait but as a foundation for the very service they offer. While some of them seek to compete with existing centralized services, others make the full use of decentralization and create (or try to create) something that wasn’t possible even ten years ago. Here are some of those projects.

It's ridiculous that the word blockchain adds value to the company. It's understandable but still pretty stupid. Some of the projects seem promising, especially those who take advantage of the security and immutability of blockchain. But for others, it seems that they're only adding blockchain just to say they're using it. I mean, those projects could be achieved easier and more realistically without using blockchain.

I am familiar only with Civic from that list, but some other projects also look interesting. The one that impressed me the most is Estonian e-Residency. I'm creating my digital ID right now.
