Blockchair: Blockchain Search and Analytics Engine

Blockchair is an online service found at Blockchair.com. It's useful to make an analogy between Google and Blockchair. Google is a search engine that explores the web on a regular basis to find sites. Blockchair does the same for blockchains.

You can use the website’s search form to find all information on the Bitcoin and Bicoin Cash blockchains (Ethereum is on its way). Blockchair maintains a dataset of all Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash transactions, all blocks, and all outputs.

Our explorers are already featured on Coinbase, Coinmarketcap, CoinGecko, HitBTC and more.

Please feel free to post here your comments and questions. We are always open for constructive criticism and new ideas that can be used for the project improvement. We are going to use this topic for getting feedback from Bitcointalk users and make announcements.

One of my most favorite explorers. Using their API for 1 year, it is the most stable one. Can't wait for Ethereum explorer release.

This is an amazing service that am just about to discover it now. What i noted is this a search engine through different blockchains in a fast way like active google but i see no ads at all or any fees for specific searches or any kind of subscriptions. The question is how would you aim to maintain your project? What's your financial model here? and what other updates programmable for the future?

Full-text search

Blockchains are uncharted territory for most search engines, but not for Blockchair. In addition to transaction data, many other interesting things can be found here. For instance, “The Hacker Manifesto” by Loyd Blankenship, news about the North and South Korea reconciliation and even marriage proposals! These data are stored in Ethereum transactions’ “input” field and in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash scripts, such as OP_RETURN, that are widely used by “decentralized Twitters”. It can never be changed or deleted. In addition to searching over Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash scripts’ data, Blockchair now allows to search over “extraData” and “input” fields of the Ethereum blockchain.

The unified search interface allows to search over 3 blockchains: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum by one query. Users who use public blockchains for data notarization, proof of ownership or land registries should not be burdened by storing transaction hashes. Users can find these transactions based on data recorded in them and not vice versa.

Sorting and filtering

Finding the largest transaction by value transferred is impossible for the traditional banking system. For cryptocurrencies, due to blockchain’s transparency, this is possible, but not easy. Blockchair solves this problem by offering a one-click solution.

Here are some examples:

• The largest transactions in Ether, in USD
• Blocks with the highest total fee in Ether, in USD

In addition to the monetary data, sorting and filtering by technical data are useful for technology experts:

• Transactions with the highest depth
• The most complex transactions
• Empty blocks

Data Export

Sorted and filtered data can be obtained in CSV, TSV and JSON. It can be used by analysts for various purposes. For example, to find correlations between the data from the blockchain and its cryptocurrency or token price, or for data visualization. Data export for non-commercial purposes is offered for free.

Blockchair's a really decent block explorer, admittedly I've only ever used it because other explorers earlier weren't able to support looking up of Bech32 addresses.

Now that Bitcoin's scaling "issues" seem to be put to bed, at least once Lightning Network truly gets underway, we're expecting privacy to be the next technical aspects to be considered for development. As analytics get more advanced, do you think blockchair and your team will be able to keep up should Bitcoin implement privacy-related upgrades? Stopping short of asking if you guys will be able to offer the same sort of information and data on coins like Monero.
