It still can happen right?    You never know.

But seriously, most people just follow the herd, they invest or not based on hype, on market sentiment. Crypto markets have brought in a bunch of newbies, unexperienced investors who do not understand anything about the projects, but want to make a quick buck. Not serious investors which are willing to let the projects / investments mature and that do select carefully where to put the money.

If people saw that last year the price of bitcoin reached 20k dollars and then slipped to 6.5k, then they hope that this recovery will repeat again this year. I'm afraid that this is only sweet dreams.

I truly believe that crypto has big future and that blockhain techology can make a significant impact on many spheres of our life. Of course there are many poor projects that don't have any potential, but if we talk about really decent and serious projects, i guess they will achieve huge success.

There is lot of changes in 2018 when comparing to 2017. lot of new people now know about crypto and lot of countries also have positive idea about crypto. lot more new exchanges coming, binance going to introduce euro trading pairs, nasdaq from USA is going to open a crypto exchange. so 2018 it lot more better for crypto. as i think now 10% of world population now know about crypto. in some countries more than 80% of population know about it

Maybe they are just hoping. Humans are full of hope. They saw the 2017 pump and bet that 2018 will be the same after the bear market, to regain what they have lost and maybe more. Reality of course is different, it has to take into considerations that many bad things have happened, for example the Tether manipulation discovery:

I think thats because they follow the trend of crytpo from past years. Bearish market always precedes a bullish runs. And we still have two quarters left before the end of 2018. Based on previous years Q4 always gives us pumps in bitcoin and other crypto prices.

Maybe that's what most of people expect, but the reality is, the market movement can't be predicted even at the slightest. We can learn from the past price cycle but it doesn't guarantee that the history will repeated once more.
Although this kind of belief is what make cryptocurrency has value right at the moment, so basically, a positive beliefs.

The next big pump will be from financial institutions. Nasdaq and Fidelity are building crypto exchanges. Those are the type of companies that can sell in mass quantities to financial institutions.

Mostly people or bitcoiners believe thats theres a pump coming this remaining month of year 2018 ,because we have no choice,and that is the reality,in order to compensate those previous loosing month we must believe  those some experts abiut in digital currency investment thats theres hope coming to gain good profit and maybe this bull run of crypto coins coming is the hope that are we awaited moments.

Yeah, the effect that all the failed/scam/or just plain garbage ICOs are going to have on the industry are going to take forever to heal. It was one thing in the past, where we kept all the bs and scams more or less within our community and dealt with them ourselves. But now it's like we're on the world stage and all of the dirty laundry of the crypto community is on display for everyone to see. Kind of a bad situation.

I think that many believe in pump on the basis of the previous years. People think that history will repeat itself and in the hope of this invest their money in cryptocurrencies. I am convinced that such pump will not be as before!
