Not really sure where this should be posted so if it is inappropriate please move it somewhere else.

I am new to crypto currencies.  I had heard about BTC but the whole thing seemed very complicated...mining etc - sounded a bit like Runescape (my son's teenage obsession!!).

I very much like the concept however the frustation is in the ability to actually purchase BTC/LTC etc in the UK.

There are lots of exchanges if you have the coin but for some reason you can't just go and buy it.

In the end I resorted to ebay and paid a premium, have also gone through the secondlife route and also bought altcoins which I exchanged for BTC/LTC - none of which are really straightforward.

With Ebay some people won't sell to you unless you have met certain criteria and with secondlife you lose a bit on the exchange process plus you have to wait a while to transfer your BTC.

I have also got some free btc through faucets.

Question: does anyone, from the UK, know of a site where you can actually buy BTC/LTC without having to jump through more hoops than a circus animal?

One site I visited even wanted my login details for my bank account...hmmm

Another one wanted 2 forms of Id and for me to take a picture of myself holding the id and a sign for the website whilst also having my hands in view!!!

This makes the whole process incredibly frustrating and will put people off.

To top it all off I forgot my BTC password for my computer wallet - much to the amusement of my husband and daughter - have now found, thankfully.

Maybe grey haired old ladies should leave the crypto world alone  Grin

Thanks for reading.

https://bitbargain.co.uk/ and https://localbitcoins.com/ are pretty easy to get going in the UK that is if your not looking to buy a huge amount - otherwise IDs and similar are required

I think you could arrange a cash deal on local for more than any of the limits.
