If you are a newbie in crypto I would recommend you to be very careful with investments. Of course there're few ICOs that most likely will give you a good profit, but you shouldn't trust anyone's opinion until you do your own investigation. Check this ICO rating site: https://icodrops.com
It's a good starting point. There you can find a lot of good project. All projects which have HIGH or VERY HIGH rating are worth investing. But in most cases it's very difficult to participate in such ICOs due do a high demand among investors. And be prepared that there a lot of SCAM projects so invest carefully and don't get trapped.

I recommend ICO Merculet - you can still register there https://tokeneed.com/ - it's one of the hottest ICOs in May-2018. Also look for ICO in my Signature - it's good too

You can either scrupulously choose each ICO project and invest only in those that at least 100% will win back investments without losses, or in each invest a little, in the hope that one of them will fully cover your expenses and give money.

I think there’s no need to rush things
The more knowledge you witness, the more experience you have

If you are truly a newbie; you need to observe first
Participate in airdrops and bounties for few weeks and get more knowledge about ICOs in the process

That way, you won’t make silly mistakes

People are right. Newbies shouldn't invest in ICOs. There're still a lot of scammy projects, not to consider those in which the teams really believed, but things still didn't work out well on the market. Why not to try from middle-term investments in top coins as well as some experimental trading on exchanges? The pros of these choices are that such actions are more safe, don't require any specific sum of money and guarantee the ability not to lose a lot. ICOs, on the other hand, often have some solid min sum for investment and you can lose everything if you don't receive the tokens or the token doesn't get listed on any exchanges.
Yet if you are really willing to invest in an ICO, check out deedcoin, people say it's a good one.

A lot of good ico at this time and certainly I can not mention one by one. It would be nice if you follow the advice of members above, before following ico you have to analyze whitepaper, team, vision etc.

Btw I recommend streamity ico they have some advantages and will be a successful project I think you can check here https://streamity.org/en/

You can also see some ongoing ico at https://icobench.com or other website about ico. Or read a guide how to invest ico for beginner's here https://masterthecrypto.com/guide-to-ico-investing/

Be careful and good luck!

If you have never done this before, I'd suggest starting with only half an ethereum or less. I started with 0.1eth or 0.2eth (when eth was above $1000) so it didn't hurt too much if all failed.

I followed influencers, websites, did my own research, tried to find trustworthy projects/teams. I stayed away from hype projects, or project where I didn't feel anything for (in terms of affinity).

A few did pretty great, some not so good, and some downright bad. Bad, this is crypto and even a bad investment can turn into a good one if you hold long enough, or sell at the right time to jump in the next project.
