After sending some money to Dwolla today, I suddenly got a phone call warning me that I had to upload a photo ID for "security", and attempting to login gives me this: I don't know whose security this is for, but it certainly isn't doing anything for my security. At this point I can no longer do business with Dwolla.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Odd, no such issue here doing deposits and withdraws 5 minutes ago.

That totally sucks! I'm glad I got my account a couple days ago. I did the free $1 promo. I've started the process to link my checking account. Hopefully I got in under the photo-ID wire. I'll let y'all know.

Sounds like CYA stuff on Dwolla's part. It's not difficult to fake photo ID which isn't going to be physically examined.
|
All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

People have received debit cards and MB accounts fraudulently already due to uploaded credentials. As said above it's too easy for a professional with good tools to edit a passport, driver's license etc.
To show someone else's face and name. The shadowing, letter type etc. can all be matched to a T. You will never notice it even if you have checked ID's for decades.
A bit (a lot) harder physically of course. Unique materials, grooves, watermarks visible via ultraviolet light etc.

A user-scanned photo-ID. Laughable! User-created, I should say. A little Photoshop to alter and/or create anything. This is simply an inconvenience (and invasion of privacy) for the "good guys", and non-factor for the bad guys.

Nothing wrong with it. They are tightening up because of the recent fraud...

Nothing wrong with it. They are tightening up because of the recent fraud... What about the fact there are forums and onion sites where you can pay ~$20 to counterfeiters for an altered european/american ID scan or drivers license scan identical to a real one with a photo, full name, serial number etc.? If the counterfeit was created by the actual stolen template software & not photoshop, it's literally identical with a real ID card or driver's license.

I didn't get this on a withdrawal that I did tonight. My account has been active since early June. I'm thinking it's only for either new accounts, deposits, or accounts that have been flagged for some reason.

I withdraw some money from MtGox to dwolla and I got a call from dwolla. They asked me for my name and address, they didn't ask for ID. This was strange because I was only receiving money not sending it, so there is no risk of chargebacks to them.

Thats odd. I've had an account for about month and have made transactions with no problem, such as this one.
