I got this from Bitmain directly mid-march but because of a move across the country, I am just getting around to setting it up.

After FINALLY realizing that it wasn't shipped with an SD card, I imaged an SD card and put it in. Unfortunately, it is still doing absolutely nothing.

With the PSU off, I plug everything in (1 Ethernet and 9 six pin connectors. Then I flip the power on. Red lights at the back of the controller come on and the Orange and Green light around the Ethernet cable come on.

That's it. That's all it does. Sometimes the green light for the ethernet will blink a little, but I can't find it on my network and I even download additional apps to search the network for all IPs.

The Fault and Normal lights have been off and have never come on.

I've tried pressing IP Report. I've tried holding it down. I've tried plugging in the 8 power connectors on the hashing boards, turning it on, and then plugging in the connector for the control board. No change.

I've tried pressing reset. I've tried holding reset down for 5 seconds where Bitmain says the unit will restart itself (it doesn't).

And my network is simple. DHCP, no static IPs, no firewall that would block it... I've been able to hook up my Avalon miners with absolutely no problem. I've restarted the router, the modem, checked connections, changed ethernet cables, etc. etc. etc....

Really frustrated at this point and do not like the thought that I have to send this damn thing back to CHINA to get fixed.

If any of you have any ideas, I would really appreciate it.

Does it make noise? With Bitmain ASICs that could be a good indicator that it is working.

In any case, that sounds like a lemon ASIC. You sure it wasn't damaged while you were moving cross-country? Good thing is that your warranty should still be active.

The fans come on at maybe 5%. It wasn't damaged. It rode in the car with me and I didn't open the box until today, so it was well protected.

Are you sure that you have a DHCP-server running on your network?

I believe the L3+ needs to get an IP from a local DHCP server to get a local IP address.

Yep. Seems like this thing is just dead.

My L3+ had similar issues but it was because my router wasnt assigning it an IP for some reason. Try plugging it into the router directly and reset. Or try another lan port.

You should not buy anything from bitmain, in this situation you see you have no support and have to send to China again

Seems like the issue lies within the controller card from the info you've given us; if that's truly the case, then you could try buying a control board off eBay or Amazon and it could be the fix. Sending the thing to Bitmain isn't the greatest idea with shipping even if you're within warranty, though you don't technically have to ship the whole thing with the L3+.

MyRig also does repairs, but they only do out of service repairs and you'll have to pay them. I've had great experiences with them in the past for miner sales, but I'd suggest first contacting them and seeing whether or not they do repairs for the L3+.

Its just a bad controller, it happens.

BTW none of the controllers come with an SD card so I dont know where that idea came from.

Also, you dont have to ship it back to China, there are multiple US repair centers now.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

the issue is he put an sd card into it why?

They don't need one.

So he most likely killed it with the sd card hack.

I will set it up for you to the pool of your choice if possible. or determine if you killed off the controller.

If you killed the controller  and the boards are good  I can send you one of my 11  and keep yours  plus a bit of coin to pay for the controller.

I read your post closely you have rasp pi's  for your avalon's

detach them  then try to see if it works..  I have had rasp pi's  fuck with other mining gear on my network.

I suspect  the controller is setting  the dhcp to the rasp pi  number.

I had to set both the controller and the rasp pi to static addresses.

Try  running the L3 with no avalon's running  and see if it shows.

I think the issue is caused by some ethernet switches.  and both things set to the same address fucking one up.

Hey, Phil. I tried imaging an SD card after fighting with it for over an hour. I wasn't running any other miners when trying to get the L3+ going (not even powered on or plugged in to the network).

I'm under warranty so I will will try one of the US repair centers. Just a giant pain in the ass.

I must have pulled up an old L3 setup guide because it showed putting an SD card in the slot.

Did you check that the PSU works? In my experience, PSUs are fare more fallable than miners.

Also, any chance you are plugging into a switch that has Power of Ethernet? PoE often messes with the L3_IO board. It can take multiple reset cycles to bring them back online.

Enjoy getting your warranty from shitmain  Grin Grin no but srsly, dont ever buy another ASIC. There is just so much problems and shit with them, and the warranty time for these equipments are WAY to low for the kind of hardware that they contain.
