Hi,

Im trying to set up my own mining pool as a hobby and just because i like to build stuff and learn new things.
I have a good VPS ready and moderate linux experience.
All guides i find are terribly outdated and mostly i fail at connecting the front and backend.

Is there anyone able to help me and/or point me to a up to date guide?

Im mostly looking into ethash or equihash coins like komodo or metaverse.

Cheers!

These are some guide i have followed:
https://github.com/DeckerSU/komodo-pool-setup --> problem error during compile of komodo

http://betbybitcoin.com/setup-ethereum-mining-pool-using-open-source-ethereum-pool/  --> problem i am unable to make nginx show the index page and get the pool running

I would stay away from komodo. komodod is very buggy, and while I got it setup, 28/30 blocks were rejected and taken by the same person. Its a scam coin and why you don't see many pools running it. Something I have heard in the past as well.

That was the 1st pool I tried.

There are really no up to date guides. You need a build environment, and redis server running. The rest is getting compiled and working together. There are so many bugs to fix as well. I got a btcz pool going now and had to even make some code adjustments to get things working right. You have to know servers, and learn as you go.

You can join my pools chat room if you have any questions. - http://tiny.cc/btczmining

Feel free to stop by.
