I have always supported bitcoin and its anonymity. Today, we heard about the users who got hacked after they logged in to myetherwallet. This wasn't the first time some users got hacked and there is no doubt it will happen again. It can happen to all of us. There is no difference you are holding bitcoin, Litecoin or Ethereum. All of us wish it was possible to punish that hacker. But all the holders are anonymous. So, anonymity is not always good. What is your opinion about cryptocurrencies anonymity considering this issue?
Anonymity is a right and will always good. It is their own fault, the one who gets hacked, to not educate themselves about the importance of security. You can't blame a hacker/cracker for their own fault. Due to the astonishing cryptocurrencies security procedure, it is actually an advantage for the users, but some user did not have maximize it right.

Insurance is at the first place I guess, but we will need to wait more for it. Security is very important, but the proper security is what everybody needs to care for. Hacking Google DNS public servers was the problem not MEW. You can always use the offline version of MEW an stay safe.

Anonymity is not good if it will use in illegal activities just like what your example. Hackers intercept a wallet because it is not secured. Using metamask or ledger will help to secure our wallet. We can also stock our cryptocurrency in coldwallets. I am sure that if we will do it, the possible that hackers attack is null.

Thieves exist even in non-anonymous world of banks and the like. If somebody robbs a bank he can do that no matter if all the bank legitimate clients are anonymous or not. So anonymity is not a problem here and please don't mix those two.

Don't expect a perfect system from our imperfect world, everything has its own ups and downs, to be honest from the myetherwallet incident for those people who logged in to the phising website disguised as the official with the help of the public dns, the browser already prompted that the website smells fishy in the first place, it was prompted with a red warning sign that it is not secured plus it is not an https before entering, from that moment you need to be vigilant cause there is a bad catch as to why your browser acted like that.

Every bitcoin transaction can be done and completed without any personal information. Transactional information is displayed but your identity is completely confidential. Because of the anonymity of bitcoin and unmanaged, criminals can use this currency as a trading method.

Well there are always consequences to everything, and that's the consequence of being anonymous. Although it is supposedly a good thing to keep the persons identity private but at the same time if these hackers hack your account, you would not know the perpetrator is.

Bitcoin showed itself as a less risky system, in comparison to conventional banks and other structures which are periodically are in a big depression.

I don't think bitcoin is that anonymous and I would not trust it
I believe bitcoin and ethereum can be traced to the hodler, unless he uses some coinmix stuff. Ethereum is even less anonymous, as new addresses are not generated by default for every new transaction

There are many fake sites, which try to get your private key. They look legit, but they are not. If you spell "myetherwallet" little wrong in Google, then you are putting yourself in danger. Myetherwallet is safe, but these many fake sites are dangerous.

If you are stupid enough to ignore the warnings and still proceed by entering your private keys, then the blame is definitely on you. Any market cannot be foolproof and such loopholes would always exist. It is a user's awareness that cautions him not to click on any shady things or to log out whenever you feel something is not right. You cannot blame user anonymity for this.

If I understand correct - red lock in a browser was the only one warning about a fake site, but not everyone knows suchs features. Furthermore, there are too many novices in crypto. But anyway I think its price we pay to have an alternative payment system, independent and decentralized...

anonymous in my opinion there is no benefit, anonymous benefits can only be felt by criminals only. while for us to give its own difficulties when we lose our assets.

Anonymity is one of the advantages of cryptocurrencies. KYC is the last thing we need, although exchanges will have to apply this procedure due to regulations. The best way to be safe is to keep your coins in a hardware wallet.

The anonymity of crypto users will be a major issue when hacking occurs where the authorities following the hacking case will find it difficult to track traces of the breakthroughs that hackers steal due to anonymity imposed. I was wondering, they already know the risks when using crypto but they are not with all the risk that will occur like the case of this hacking.

Even the hacks are happening with the anonymity then what will happen if it is public to everyone. But the hacks are happened due to the owners faults most of the time they will let their private key to access someone in some way so their funds will be stoles so better buy an hardware wallet and store funds there because that is the most safe wallet until now.

I also was a victim of hacking. My myetherwallet was hacked and the hacker withdrew all of my eth and erc20 tokens. I lost a huge deal of profit that day but it did not stop there, my account on c-cex was hacked, my account on bitsler was hacked, genesis mining account, coinexchange.io account. I was targeted by hackers as they thought I have a huge stash of btc.
How come you are targeted again and again, it looks like your computer is compromised rather than anyone targeting you specifically or you were using the same password in all of the sites without any multi factor authentication, other than that there is no way you will be targeted like that. If the luck is in your way you could recover your hacked coins all you have to do is to file a police complaint and forward it to all the exchanges and tumblers so that once they get the coins in their account they will block those accounts and you could recover your coins.

Anonimity is part of the decentralizarion that we have, these two things should work together to be more effective.I wont be going to connect bitcoin and other altcoins with the MEW attack because those eth holders will be hacked, not those bitcoin holders because it doesnt use the same wallets,erc20 based tokens are going to be affected by the mew attack.

Never use your private key to unlock the coins and always make sure you bookmark the site, always use a hardware wallet or keystore /JSON file to open the wallet and it is better than way rather than using your private key which is more risky as many had a bad experience in the past, i do not think that it is the issue with MEA but people tend to do mistakes and those mistakes are costly.
