I just wondered. Most people that got into bitcoin the last couple of weeks just did it because of the hype and the opportunity to make some quick cash. But lurking this subreddit I've seen loads of people actually believing cryptos are the currency of the future. So my question to you guys is why would extreme unstable currencies take over from fiat money? I don't believe the argument ""it's not controlled by the banks"", because it's controlled by some shady sites that ask fees to make transactions. Banks are at least controlled by organisations with authority that can punish unfair practices.

I won't bore you the obvious benefits of Bitcoin vs traditional financial systems. If you want to learn the REAL value of Bitcoin, I implore you to watch some of Andreas Antonopolous videos on Youtube.
Instead, I'll wow you with micro transactions on the Lightning Network is going to be huge. Here test it for yourself:

Open two web browsers and put them side by side.

Navigate to https://yalls.org on the first browser. Yalls is a newspaper that allows you to pay for an article in BTC.

Navigate to https://htlc.me on the second browser. HTLC is a web wallet on Lightning Network.

Click on an article on yalls.

Copy on Continue Reading.

Copy the Lightning Network invoice hash.

Paste it on HTLC and click send.

Congratulations! You just witnessed a micro transation for ~0.01 USD.

I think the idea is one day they won't be unstable like this, we are just all getting in at the prototype. or really the pre-prototype phase. we are trading the coins/tokens in the hope when the products are released, tested well and developed we are ready.

I want freedom. Having some of my wealth in bitcoin is a little bit of freedom. It’s a new asset class that maybe the medium of change for international commerce. Many shitcoin will fail. Someone will figure out a use case for some of the coins/protocols. I don’t know who the winners will be, but I think their is value in decentralized censorship resistant bitcoin.
