What are the main things you look out for when investing in ICOs?
Is it the potential ROI
Is the team behind the ICO
Is it an innovative concept that would benefit others
Anything else
There are far too many ICOs these days so what are the main things you look for when you buy in to ICOs?

I think deserves a bump now that the ICO craze is over, how does it affect investors with limited projects and plenty of thought before investing?

my favourite ICOs to invest is when they already confirmed to list on promising exchange like binance if they already paid it and getting list right after the ICOs ended, maybe IEO on binance exchange is a very good potential to invest because most of project that doing IEO on binance is always giving good return, i dont really care who behind the project to be honest, as long they have big capital to survive their project even their ICOs is not getting really got a good response from investor thats enough for me.

Good thing this is bump... there's always be a good reason for all of us to express ideas on how to deal with ICOs given that this craze is considered obsolete with regards to present trend. Alongside with so many threads that discussed same content. The though is the same but all answers are always subjective. As one of many bounty hunters out there, it is always the use case of project that matters me most, whether to think always about the team, capital/funds, or kinda something about their innovative concept; if this innovative concept is far from realizable then is failed for me. Use case is always be my criteria. In addition, we cannot guarantee the success of the project if all its stakeholders didn't believed in its output. If all we have to think is take our part on bounty after the campaign ended then in the first place why would we join the pay per campaign and not on fixed campaign? Moreover, to avoid scams is to avoid risk, sometimes projects tend to halt their developments by reasons of mismanagement. With this they filed for bankruptcy. While many called them scams, not to think about what really happened, is absurb. Again, cryptocurrency projects are proned to this risk, may it be in stocks, indexes, or bonds.

I don't think its worth to pay time and money to analyze and invest in ICO at this time. We all know that ICO is already dead, even though there is an exception. Instead of investing in ICO, getting involved in IEO on reputation exchanges is more potential to get ROI.

After more than couple of years, the OP revived this thread. Definitely, the perception with ICOs changed as compared before. For me, if in case I will invest in ICO project again, I will make sure that they already have the product in place. I got burned from the last ICO that I invested. I thought the team can deliver but they couldn't. The team has their profiles published, so for me, this is not an assurance that they can deliver their objectives. Even with well-written whitepaper, this is not included in my basis anymore. So for me, my top item is they should have active working platform/product/services already. Because if they are just here to raise money and then develop their platform, the likelihood of failure is high.

What are the main things you look out for when investing in ICOs? Is the team behind the ICO Is it an innovative concept that would benefit others
For me, these things. Team behind ICO is important for me, cause I checked whether the team has the capability to execute or experience to develop what they are launching which should be the case for every new ICO. Also the tech and how useful or unique this new innovation evolved. Like for scalability, does it beat any altcoin kings in terms of scaling, or does they improve the congestion of network, or like solved the issues crosschain about different blockchain. Something like that. In fact Ive invested on Avax ICO and I do hope my investment could be good in the long run. I was kinda hoping this thread should be on self moderation to avoid some spam. For me ICO is one of fraud and I will not invest in ICO even though everything looks good, ICO has taken many victims so avoid investing in ICO
Cant force you to believe as experienced can be a nightmare for everyone, but dont called them all as scam there are some with potential if you just look carefully with it.

1. ICOs are no more, the only successful ICO this year is AVAX and that's just one ICO project so far 2. To choose a better project the first thing to look for is the utility of the project 3. Another part to look out for is the past experience of the team, are they up to what they are developing?

it definitely is. which is why instead of finding icos, i'd rather find a project that is currently trading below ico price/undervalued but has potential go grow. one of the projects that i invested got way below ico price because some of the partners are dumping their tokens, but their potential is really huge so for nearly 3 years most hard core investors keep hodling, and it really paid off because right now it has already grow to at least 2x of the ico price, and makes those who bought the bottom got a nice 400x profit. that being said, you need fundamentals to believe in a project, if you follow them just because of the price action, you'll get burned casing pumps & dumps. one of the most fundamental question that needs to be answered is why do they need their own token/blockchain/etc, is it for raising money or does it have fundamental reason to exist? if there's no good reason to exist, there's a high chance the project might go on but the token will get abandoned.

Real use case and the team qualifications is the most vital part of a new project, some team lies about their professions on LinkedIn, Avalanche was a success ICO project because the team are into blockchain before Bitcoin exists

ICOs are a thing of the past now. Back in those days when ICOs were at peak many investors blindly invested their money in ICOs in the hope to get good ROIs. I had invested in a few ICOs myself and was disappointed too. But that didn't stop me from investing in good projects. I always looked for projects which had a good vision and tech and ofcourse a good dev team. I think that is what makes a project deliver a good product.

IEO is marginally better than ICO, I haven't lost any penny to scam IEO projects because I never invest in any IEO projects that use small crypto exchanges to raise fund, top exchanges projects gives better result and good return of investment, IEO is a lot safer

1. The team should have a solid background. 2. The idea of the project should be a money-making idea for me. 3. Whitepaper/Pitch deck should be interesting. 4. The project must have solid backings. 5. And the project must transparent from the beginning.
Though ICOs are not that much in play these day but I would still invest If I see good a project.

There are far too many ICOs these days so what are the main things you look for when you buy in to ICOs?
buy / invest in ICO, in my opinion there are some experiences that I have done before I went deeper to buy ICO. [1]. The main thing I did was to examine a number of ICO documents that were meaningful: product, project overview, prospectus, saw the development of the ICO project meet the standards (Minimum Viable Product), analysis, and also I compare the ICO that I want to buy with other ICOs/competitors. [2]. Next up, as you say, "Team" research.I have to know in detail from the team they developed ICO, for example; social media, websites and most of all is reading about team bios, usually if the Team is good, of course the ICO invested will be good in the future. In this case do not forget also the activeness of telegrams, other social media, do they often provide information about crypto and answer quickly or not. [3]. The last one in my opinion is the funds collected and the total coin as a whole, in circulation.

Innovative concepts always takes a lead when it comes to ICO requirements, probably we are going to see the DeFi hype craze if the current trend become bullish for long time whether it is ICO or IEO.But honestly I don't give anymore attention to the new projects because they have lesser chance of survival compared to past years.
