The glass has the same volume of liquid in it.

It is completely full. Bottom half with water, top half with air. I welcome your opinions. If bitcoin needs kind and loving words to succeed it is not going to. I believe it will keep growing because it is a fundamentally good idea who's time has come. No matter what you or I say.

Not to mention the 3rd larger exchange got compromised at the exact same time mybitcoin went down. This is not a coincidence.
The 3rd largest exchange only accounted for less then 1% of the total market. So what you are saying is quite misleading.

How many times does a child fall before it learns to walk? MANY! The bitcoin ecosystem is still learning to walk.
As long as we keep learning from our mistakes, we are moving forwards.

You are right. Its kinda sad though. Bitcoin is a revolutionary technology that could really change our world. It could dramatically change the way that wealth and power is allocated in our world, and increase the standard of living for millions. It could stop the funding of wars. And here we are at the very beginning with some unix nerds stealing bitcoins to make themselves feel sufficiently smarter then others. What a lacking sense of reality. They are stealing from their own brothers when they could have an opportunity to change the world. We will all learn lessons and grow, and I hope we all hold ourselves to a higher standard to watch out for the ones we walk with.

As much as I hate the fact that people are losing their bitcoins, it is better that the flaws are exploited earlier rather than later. The money that these hackers get away with is their payment for exposing these flaws.

Which flaws exactly has been exposed? So far it had been human stupidity for the most part, the flaw which was already exposed many thousands years ago. So it's human greed fighting human stupidity at this point, which endangers this project.

Acutally it is stupidity on a degree that courts will have fun hammering into the heads of the idiots. bitomat.pl? FULLY liable due to gross neglect. Regardless what a disclaimer said. mybitcoin.com? Forget receivership - this is personal bankruptcy of the owner once found (which will happen soon - he had to pay for the servers). Not a business legally, so.... here we go. Fully liable for every cent lost. Others will follow.

Problem is, with bitcoins you cant call the 800 number for support, you cant do chargebacks, and you cant ask for FDIC insurance. If someone jacks your coins, you are SOL. People need to treat these like gold. Bruce learned hard, and very few people will forget what has happened. By no means does that justify the thieves.

Bitcoin is still at proof of concept stage. You can't really expect much of they guys who are working for free without supervision. I mean, someone should come up with $100m to develop the proper infrastructure. Mr. Soros, there is an opportunity for you to rewrite financial history before you depart )

Lost confidence in Dwolla. Dwolla and Bitcoins were like peas and carrots. When Dwolla gave us the middle finger, that was the last bit of confidence we had left.
No way in hell will it ever get big again if we got as big as we did and still failed.
Everyone is selling.
There is still Liberty Reserve. Keep your money safe in Costa Rica.

The posts and responses I've read over the past few months have been interesting.
Anyone posting a negative opinion about bitcoin is labeled as someone who wants to drive the price down so that they can buy them on the cheap.
Even the bears are labeled as bulls in hiding by the bulls. Bitcoin has enough cheerleaders to be able to sustain the impact of negative opinion and debate.

At this stage I would not be surprised if the US$ and/or euro will go to the crapper faster than BTC. Selling BTCs for these funny bankers' moneis now does not seem a smart move to me. At least use them to buy farm land, precious metals, and general survival gear.
BTW: Question for the traders: How do you short BTC?
