My code is QuVGs4RMxkBQ7Q, and I am asking 1BC for access to my Library of over 8,000 songs that is 40GB.

Also I will download a file via filehost or bittorrent and send it to you via Alliance for 1BC per 500MB. The upload will be capped at 100KB/s

Contact me in alliance.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Well, somehow I don't like Alliance anymore.
It's just too complicated to build a working network with people who aren't familiar with it.

I guess the best thing would be a DC hub with encryption.

Maybe I will workout a better solution for a filesharing darknet and post it here.

Is that a one time code ? And are you using SSL ?

If there are enough people to join I might consider to try it again.

i2p filesharing is also kinda "closed".
i2p is completly open. And yes it is slow, but then you just let run i2p and mining on the same pc over night.

AllianceP2P or WASTE?
But as I see it, this whole Darknet thing only makes sense when we are a few people who start a network together.
The current state is this: Someone show's interest, after a few issues we connect, and then he doesn't show off anymore. Then after a few weeks the next one shows interest and it starts again.

For this to work we need a few more people to get it started.
(Alliance will also only work without dynamic DNS when there's atleast one known peer online who knows the IP adresses of the other peers afaik.)

I wouldn't really recommend using WASTE unless you want to contribute to it, as development is stalled.
But there are many alternatives.

Oh and one could also (ab)use Git for this stuff. Just setup a Cronjob to automatically get updates from others. It'd would also be easy to create a script, as there are nice interfaces for pretty much any language.

Why don't we make a file-sharing IRC channel?

Hi,

is anyone willing to try to build up a darknet again?
I don't care about the network technology. Alliance, WASTE, DC++, anything is fine with me.

I have a new connection (DSL 32k) and something what seems to be a static IP.

Soooo, who's in ? Wink

Creating a Darknet with random people doesn't really make a lot of sense, as it will be an open/public net which is the opposite.

In a Darknet you need to trust other people so just peering with random people kinda defeats the purpose.

I have a vast collection of files I am more than happy to share if I could understand the benefits of sharing via Darknet or WASTE or anything mentioned here.   I never want to know the people I am getting files from in the least, I just want good file information before I get said files.  Who is the target audience for these services over current file sharing methods?

@BitcoinPorn: You could use Oneswarm, Freenet, GNUnet, ... (see the link).

Darknets are good if you already have people you can trust. Since they have to trust in both their technical skills and that they won't turn on you this can be quite hard for most people.

I'm looking at Oneswarm right now, just based on something I already am kind of familiar with.  I am definitely missing something.   Who is the target audience for these type of file sharing programs?  I am probably misunderstanding, but it seems you would have to "know" people to access all the good files, which then negates the whole 'its anonymous' thing.   I am nearly 100% sure I am misunderstanding something here lol

No that's a pretty good break down of it.  Stick with usenet.

usenet is for old people!   I am on that IRC thingy with an fserve hosting my latest 20 mp3s.

Honestly though, if that is a good break down of it, then "I still don't get it", there must be some pretty bad files being shared if the paranoia is that high regarding said files.

On Usenet one depends on server operators so it isn't really a solution if you want to hide traces.
