I am in Canada.  What is the quickest and most economical way to purchase bitcoins?

Thanks in advance!

The prices listed there are like 200-300 per BTC more then quoted on the BTC-E exchange, why such a markup?

Where is the cheapest place to get them, where the price is the closest to the market price?

Thanks.

I think the prices at localbitcoins are high because the seller must drive to a meeting place and they are often stood-up by buyers. But I don't trade with loonies (CAD) so I'm not sure what exchange is best. BTC-E is the most popular I believe.

What is the quickest way to transfer money to your account and be able to make purchases on BTC-E?

quickbt.com for small (under $50) purchases. Just need a cell phone and debit card. (Canada only)

I have not actually used them (BCT-E) myself. But if they offer the option to fund via a money order, that may be a good place to start. It is cheap and straight forward. That process takes me 3-5 business days on another exchange. If you are able to link your bank account then you can do basically instant transfers. It could take a while the first time you do it however. You must be verified beforehand.
Getting verified is worth the hassle I think. Once it is set up you can get coins anytime with ease.
