It's only a 200x increase from here. At this point, would you really be surprised it it happened within a few years?

There are some more or less fundamental flaws with today's implementation of bitcoin. If they will not be corrected as time goes, then I would expect to see an alternative picking up the pace, leaving bitcoin behind. On the other hand, if they will be corrected, then there is no upper limit. Currently bitcoin is superior to its competitors, so it definitely has potential, but its deflationary aspects make it difficult for it to be considered a currency rather than a stock. It will not reach this price as a stock, only as a currency.

If anyone knew the answer to that, they'd be buying all the coins they could right now Wink.

Personally, I don't see it ever reaching anywhere near that level. it could definitely reach the thousands, but once it gets too high, sticker shock will kick in and people will start selling what they can, and trying to buy the next big thing when it's low. Ultimately, the fact that a vast majority of people buy btc to invest and make money -- and not USE them as currency -- is what will cause it to crash. Could it be in the next year? 5 years? 10 years? 50 years? Who knows. Eventually, though, I think it will happen.

I agree with raspcoin, unless it becomes a over the counter currency it will never take off.
As of right now the biggest problem I see is that transfers and confirmations are too slow. Currently, I'm waiting 3 hours for a $100 exchange to confirm.

Could you imagine the 100 million transactions every morning just for peoples morning coffee fix. "I'm sorry sir, you can't leave until your funds clear. Yeah, estimated time....next year."

Blockchain overload. I see Bitcoins going to zero than before ever getting that high.

good advice. i don't really know if or when it will happen, but i sure as hell hope it does.

if you think that is the main problem, investing in LTC may sound like a good idea. i've been thinking about doing it myself.

There are possible solutions for this, all was discussed earlier.

For your 3 hours transaction confirmation. You have to pay proper fees, then your transaction get confirmed fast

The day that BTC reaches the same popularity worldwide as USD...
~1.22 Trillion Dollars in circulation
~21 Million Bitcoins (Max) in circulation

1.22T/21M = $58,095.2380952 per bitcoin!  Cheesy

Or if we match the popularity of gold!
~10 billion ounces of gold
~21 Million Bitcoins (Max) in circulation

10B/21M = 476.19047619 oz of gold per bitcoin...
476 oz of gold is approx. $591,857.142857 at today's prices.  Oh my.

There is like $10T in M2 and that's not even all as they stopped recording M3 which is higher still. No one knows how high though.

Couldn't it be used as a stock once the price becomes more stable?
