ok so alot of people have Hubs that cant run the there full use so today i got really bored and started trying out a few suggestions
1 of the suggestions iv heard is to wire the Hub directly to the 5v lines on a PSU
i dont like wiring at the best of times but i needed some hubs, so i went out and spent £10 on 2 Brand new Cheap Dlink hubs. having read on Amazon they come with 2amp plugs (turns out there 1 amp) instead of going through all sorts of crap and wasted time trying to return them i decided to have some fun and wire them to a PSU

i wasnt going to spend alot of money on this so whipped out my test PSU an Alpine 500w around £15 new in the UK
i then dug around my universal laptop chargers and to my surprise found out you can jam on into a female molex connector XD half a job now Cheesy
so now i created a female molex to female molex by cutting 2 molex to satas cut the sata ends off and joined them with a joint

triped the powersupply to always be on and plugged the wires in and after a bit of tinkering and shouting it works perfectly Cheesy
im now going to wire a 2nd hub (same cheap model)
wire the fans to it to cool all my stuff

all in all its cost around £30 for 10 useable ports but from now until i reach 30A worth of devices it will only cost £1 per device
not to mention all the electric saved due to less plugs around the room Cheesy

well just finished the 2nd hub XD this is so much easier than using plugs.... Cheesy

images to follow i might even start selling these Cheesy if theres enough demand ill make a mk2 and do it all proper with crimpers and such.

***edit***
also still no smoke, fire or strange smells so must have done something right  Wink

red to red black to black Cheesy

the universal adapter is perfect for the moles connection

the final product

all are mining rock solid even less HW errors than if i used the dlink dhub7 (the more expensive version of these)

i tried this myself with the same hubs, but could only support 4 miners. adding a 5th created errors and knocked 1 or 2 out of action, not sure why (backfeed to/from the usb cord maybe?)

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461 also selling 6" M-F-M PCIe splitters and PCIe-PCIe
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

i did have problems with 1 of the hubs dropping all the 5 miners but managed to sort it by daisy chainging all the hubs through 1. i thinks it is the feedback from the USB to the PC that causes the problems but got it working and stable in the end thats 15 Erupters and 2 BFL 5GHs miners on 1 computer connected to 3 pools .
