Free trade? well , he didn't get all those bitcoins from FREEEEEE trade.

You obviously don't understand what i mean by free trade... I don't literally mean people trading things for free, or even trade on a website that is free to trade on... everything in the world costs something.

I mean free to trade what they please, without government intervention.

So basically you praise him for running a lawless website.
What a hero.

Re-read what i have written, I didn't use the word hero once, nor did i praise him directly... My point is that when the us gov get you in their cross-hairs the actual crime you commit according to their own law is nearly irrelevant.

If they don't like what you are doing and feel like the punishment won't be fitting in their eyes, they become the judge and jury by ILLEGALLY enticing you to commit further crimes while "gathering evidence" (even though they normally have enough evidence), this is just the norm for them.   They will then use that new evidence any which way to turn both the general public and more importantly the prosecution service against you.

I do personally believe the trade of drugs shouldn't be criminalized as it is today in many countries, and no matter how you look at it DPR has contributed a hell of a lot towards this cause...(I won't go into it but compare the damage of alcohol with the majority of drugs and you will see why)  Now whether all the wealth he gathered went to his head is another matter, but I believe his initial cause was a justified one.. It appeared to be all civil until the fbi started messing with him, with threats of exposing his customers, so then he became fearful of what could happen to him and his customers, then was offered a way to fix it, surprise surprise, by the same fbi that made the threats in the first place.

I just wanted you guys to see my view on how the us gov operates.. Disagree all you like, i'm listening.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

See that last part is what I agree with. I'm not for too much government intervention in regards to our economy. Laissez Faire my friends

Look, I'm not saying that I'm blind to the "terrorist plots" that the FBI keeps stopping themselves from.  But in order to actually "entrap" him, he still has to go through with actually believing he murdered that seller.  He could have said "no".

I love how "lawless" is used in a derogatory fashion.  You're right.  The real heroes are the people who write laws and obey laws.  Those good folks on capitol hill, and the good samaritans who always drive the speed limit and would never think to ingest a non-state-approved substance without permission.

Hold up a second, silkroad, as I understand it, was not really lawless.  There was a feedback mechanism where customers could leave comments about vendors, so, for really the first time, we had some semblance of quality control and peer review of product.

Let's have a talk after somebody from YOUR  family dies from poison party drugs they had no way to QC.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.

Isn't this always the type of stuff the parents and families of murderers and tyrants always say? "My son is a good man and wouldn't hurt a fly" says Mrs Bundy/Manson/Hitler etc.

C'mon now, a feedback system doesn't make something lawful. 99% of the stuff sold on Silk Road was illegal, whether we agree with it or not.

And the quality of drugs isn't going to stop people getting killed by them. You could still buy some coke or whatever  from a reputable seller that is cut with poison or some other contaminant, especially if you're a newb drug user and just took his ratings and reviews as fact. Does the vendor always carry out strict quality control tests on his products or does he take his suppliers word as fact too? What we really need is legalisation and proper regulation.

I'd feel a lot more safe buying something from a SR vendor with lots of feedback raving about the quality of their product than from some schmo in a hoodie outside the rave.

And I'm just facepalm that people still want the daddy state to hold their hand...even with drugs, lol

Yet you could be buying the exact same product from both. You literally don't know what's in either. Could be laced with ricin for all you know. Neither have been properly regulated or gone though any quality control, and SR sellers will happily sell to your kids. People could quite easily facepalm about blindly trusting anonymous people over the internet who will ship illegal drugs to your house or children.

And I'm sure you trust the state to regulate your food and legal drugs, so why not with this? Unless you buy all your stuff from shady websites on the darknet based entirely on the feedback of anonymous people. You shouldn't have to go to places like SR to buy drugs. I'd rather my taxes go into building schools and hospitals etc than straight to some power/money hungry murdering fake libertarian. Nothing 'daddy state' about that.
