I think maybe urbanisation is more important than steam, but it is not a single invention/development. it is combination of sewers/water network/highly efficient farming/all new technologies.

this 8 points are just my first thought, maybe you can perfect it with some sugestions

I would not include Bitcoin. It is pretty cool but pretty small, too.

When thinking about these things, I always add calculus (in particular derivatives and integrals) to my list.  After all, this is the very foundation on which most of modern engineering and science is built!

Yup. I was thinking that extremally important, but it evolved not discovered. even monkeys and birds can count to limited numbers.
