Hey guys, I've been programming my own Bitcoin faucet from scratch and during the testing and development stage I've been using blockchain.info for the wallet. What I have noticed however is how it drops out quite often. In the past few days I have been unable to access the server using the jsonRPC PHP library. Checking their twitter feed it's the servers going down.

Normally I would use a virtual private network for my hosting solution and setup my own wallet on the server, but funds are a little tight so I can only afford basic hosting for now.

Anyway, my question is are there any other websites that use blockchain.info? or if the recent disruptions are just bad timing on my part and isolated incidents?

On the whole I have found blockchain.info to be a reliable and reasonably intuitive web wallet

Me too.

I use blockchain.info for my easy-to-access online BTC wallet. As I have an encrypted backup of the wallet saved elsewhere, its uptime isn't life-or-death either.

If you make too many API calls, it will be blocked.
But i'd be quite surprised if your faucet reached the limit already...

Coinbase's API is no quite stable either. (I'm about to make my new faucet public soon, it uses the coinbase API)

well every hour the faucet processes any pending withdrawals which are split every 50 transactions. I doubt it will ever reach more than 50 per hour though. Also I'm making use of Bitcoins account system for different advertisers, so when the payment cron runs it also updates each advertisers account balance. So really the amount of api calls per hour really depends on how many unique advertisers there are.
