Has anyone noticed that the during the last couple of days Bitstamp's price has been higher than MtGox? For a very long time MtGox has had a much higher price than all other exchanges, why does bitstamp have a higher price now?

I have also noticed that... I think exchanges are balancing their average prices, even BTC-e seems to have higher prices.

What is even more interesting is that prices in bitstamp and gox are almost at the same level with china.

More and more people are switching to bitstamp, and with more money flowing into bitstamp (buyers) the price goes up. Also people have probably figured out a way to arbitrage, which evens out the prices among the exchanges.

This. Arbitrage is slow process because the money moves very slowly, but when many doing it, prices evens out among the exchanges.

i I thought that it is still very hard to withdraw Fiat from mtgox, which should both make arbitrage impossible, and keep the price of bitcoins higher there. Has something changed? Are the Japanese able to get Yen out of mtgox?? If that happened, it would be very interesting!

Also if demand for BTC is higher on one exchange than on another the price will go up, but... You cant move USD that quickly, so its the equivalent to server lag.

I am fairly certain Japanese residents at least can withdraw without much delay

Despit mt.gox being based in Japan bitcoin isn't so popular in the country.

Also people who are waiting for 1 month and not getting any feedback. But it's a free market , even if there weren't problems for any of those exchanges , price would still fluctuate between them

The real money right now seems to be coming in from china rather than Japan or the USA I mean Mt.Gox money. The chinese have their own exchanges like btcchina
