I look at coinmap and am disappointed. There must be many more businesses who accept bitcoin out there who haven't yet added themselves to the map. I'm in the centre of the UK and I'd have to drive a very long way to even get a meal with my btc!

Does anyone have a plot of coinmap merchants vs time? Would love to see brick-and-mortar adoption rate.

I'm surprised the plot on coinpulse is merely linear for the past month. I'd expect exponential adoption. I wonder if too few merchants know about coinmap.org; perhaps coinmap.org awareness is rate-limiting. Or alternatively, maybe it's just a bit too painful figuring out how to list your store on coinmap.org. So it's limited by the # of people who know how to do so and bother to help the mom-and-pop stores accepting bitcoin get themselves listed.

Great site,  I used it once before to find lodging and food during a vacation I was on. I do think there's quite a few merchants missing from the map though, hopefully word spreads and merchants/people know to add locations to this map to keep it as accurate as possible.

At this rate it would take an unreasonable long time to catch up with Visa, but
the curve is distorted due to the nov popularity spike and will look better in a few months.
