The only ones that mine at 5GH are ones with possibly contaminated/defective chips or are software locked as far as I'm aware.

why mine with it?   far wiser to simply sell it, since they're going at a 4-5x premium

Yep got my Jalapeno and it was mining at 7.5 ghs. Didn't pay for the upgrade so it was a pleasant surprise. I am mining with mine. I could sell but I prefer to mine.

Same.

Mine was a pleasant surprise and mines at a rate somewhere around 6-8 GH/s instead of the 5 Gh/s I paid for.

I'm curious how BFL justifies trying to sell people a 2 GH/s upgrade for the Jalapeno when most customers got that speed anyway.

It's simple, they don't justify it. Anyone who ordered a 7GH unit got ripped off.

My jala has got 6 GH/s instead of the 7 that I have ordered and paid for.
6 GH/s @ 30% error rate.

BFL support not responding.
