I've seen this section so spammed with Bitcoin speculation threads. Almost every user makes a new thread about should he sell or buy his bitcoins, etc. Now you can come to speculate these things at BitcoinIRC.

Let me introduce you to my new project: BitcoinIRC - the first Bitcoin IRC network

Features:
  • IRC network with 2 servers (Buffalo, NY and Helsingborg, Sweden)
  • Whole network is powered with Raspberry Pis!
  • Webchat
  • SSL supported
  • Anope services (NickServ, ChanServ, etc.)
  • Internal wallet system
  • Faucet
  • Gambling (under development, searching for developers)

You will be able to chat and have fun, but at the same time also earn some bitcoins from our faucet. You can also use our internal wallet system to bet at some games (gambling games under development) and then withdraw the earnings to your bitcoin wallet.

Start chatting now

Main channels
Main channel: #bitcoin
Help channel: #help
Mining discussion: #mining
Litecoin discussion: #litecoin

You are welcome to create & register any new channel under your name. All main channels are owned by admin.

Faucet
You may use our Faucet to get some free bitcoins to your BitcoinIRC wallet.
Currently you may claim 0.0001 BTC / day.

Developers
We are currently searching for developers that would be interested in developing gambling bots to our network.
You can create any kind of gambling bot that uses our Internal Wallet System for payments. We are ready to decrease bot's transaction fees from 2% to 0%.
You will NOT be paid for creating the bot. Instead you can create your own bet fees to cut some profits.
If you are interested in creating one, please contact Sourceress in-chat or email us at admin(at)bitcoinirc(dot)net.

Advertisers
You can advertise at us with 2 different ways:
1. Website ads
Currently we are using CoinURL to get the ads to our website. If you wish to advertise at our website please contact us.

2. In-chat advertising
We are currently developing the in-chat advertising system. Your ads will be shown in the channels where ads are enabled every X minutes. For more information and to get a quote please contact us.

Will there be a reward for being a moderator?, since it can be quite some work to keep all the rooms clean. I remember moderators at coinchat.org earned 1 BTC per month. I'm not looking for a reward like that, but a small fee would be nice Smiley

Haha I am sure I wouldn't give mods 1 BTC per month with the current $800 exchange rate!

Let's just say that I haven't planned to use much own money into this project. One of the servers has been colocated in a DC for free and the second one has been colocated almost-free. Anyways there are no server costs.
The only way this project is currently getting profits is through ads on the website. I am not sure though if I should implement in-chat ads as it would be against the IRC etiquette...
The Internal Wallet System will also have some sort of fees that help fund the project.

As I am developing a faucet too, the reward I would be offering mods wouldn't be much. I am not planning to use my own money to pay mods, all "salary" would be coming from project's own income.
The moderators will not be obligated to moderate the chat every day, they can be there whenever they want. The only thing they are obligated to do, is to for example ban people with nickname that has something to do with sexual organs (the first user that joined there just over an hour ago is a good example).

Anyways, if I will be getting any profits, I will share them with moderators.

Good comparison, except TF ran with all the bitcoins.

Seems like the main channel #bitcoin went invite only (+i) at some point. Fixed it now.

Server 1 wen't down during the night. It's up now. Going to make some fixes to make the IRC server boot automatically when it goes down.

Are you thinking of rewarding the moderators with a symbolic fee?  Cheesy

It looks like you were already looking for that:

We are currently searching for developers that would be interested in developing gambling bots to our network.
You can create any kind of gambling bot that uses our Internal Wallet System for payments. We are ready to decrease bot's transaction fees from 2% to 0.5%.
You will NOT be paid for creating the bot.

0.5% is a ridiculous large amount for gambling, it should be 0% just because these other sites will be actually promoting yours.

I haven't thought much about that fee yet, but I could even put it to 0%. I will have to see how much the project is getting income from e.g. ads and the current fees. If we would be making profit, I'd for sure put it to 0%.
