I recently purchased an http://www.orico.com.cn/en/ProductInfo.aspx?typeid=237&id=2294
and am using 3 USB block erupters and a Raspberry Pi. I am wondering what would be the maximum usb block erupters i can use per hub,
and also, would this hub be able to be daisy-linked with other ones (hub connected to another hub).

I guess this would be a question going out to anyone who specifically has an Orico USB 2.0 10 port hub, or anyone with knowledge in the matter.

Thank you, sorry if this has been answered but I have been unable to find it.

Most block erupters draw 0.5A.  Since your hub has a 3A power supply, it should support 6 erupters.  To be safe, though, you might want to stop at 5 per hub.

You can daisy chain hubs (I think the limit is 5 tiers with the computer counting as the first tier).  I'm running three 7-port hubs with 5 erupters per hub.  I'm also using a USB fan to help cool things down.

Hey

Thanks for the reply, cool so 6 would work theoretically. I am using a table fan to cool down the hub's power supply, raspberry Pi, and block erupters. Would I be able to swap a 5amp power supply in and run 10 on 1 hub? Also I have a fear my table fan will stop working for some reason if I leave it running for days/weeks, should I be concerned?

No: you can't replace the 3A power suply with a 5A power supply: either you'll fry the USB hub or the internal circuit will limit the current properly and the eruptors will start spitting out hardware errors.
Yes: you can daisy chain a shit-load of USB-hubs untill you reach the maximum of 127 devices.
No: I wouldn't worry too much about the fan. I have a few block eruptors which work 24/7 without cooling and they're still doing fine. Having 5 devices on 3A power USB hub also aids in keeping things 'safe'. If it stops, it won't damage your hardware (unless it catches fire, but those things should be tested for that Tongue )
