Hi,

Just wanted to say Hi! to everyone!  I've heard a bit about Bitcoins in the news lately and decided it was time to take a look.

The whole process was kind of confusing at first, but it quickly started to make sense.

My initial thought was that I could simply trade electricity for some Bitcoins....

So, with a bit of excitement, I downloaded mining software, set up a wallet, then it was off to Amazon to make a (what I thought to be) an awesome purchase!

1 10 port powered USB hub  59.99$
1 USB fan                            7.99$
7 Block Eruters                    19.99$ Each

Total spent after taxes was 217.14$

Since then I've spent another 750$ on 24 more erupters, a 49 port USB hub, and a power supply.

I currently have only 11 erupters mining as the remaining 20 are in the mail.  (24HR BTC earnings = 0.00213141)

At current difficulty running the full 31 erupters I will be making about 0.0063xxxx BTC a day (5.xx$ a day at todays price)

Assuming BTC hold their price:  Will this ever pay for itself or will increasing difficulty make this worthless?  Also, with erupters selling for nearly 50 each on eBay, would it make sense to sell these off and preorder some new tech?

Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading!

Welcome, you can try this calculator out http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ or google Bitcoin profitability calculator for more results.

If bitcoin holds it's price, you have to factor in the rising difficulty as well. ROI is a long way out, if ever, with new mining hardware making current ones obsolete, causing less and less profitability.

you can always upgrade to something like these: http://store.bitcoin.org.pl/?product=bi%E2%80%A2fury-55-ghs-usb-miner
they are a bit overpriced atm tho, but you could always sell the block errupters again on ebay Wink

edit: seems he changed the price from 170 euro to 0.55btc... i would wait for a price drop   Shocked

With increasing difficulty, you probably won't get much btc out of your rig
However, if prices of btc does continue to go up, then you might be able to get your money back like that
I think you should sell your rig right now (the prices have risen significantly due to the increase in prices of btc)
and use that money to buy some btc when prices decrease
You'll get more money like this than from mining

Jesus, thats 450 USD for that. Way over priced, you can get a v2 blade for less than that with twice the ghs.

Oh, and don't expect to roi right away. I have almost 800 invested and I know I won't roi for a while unless the price goes over 1K

yeah the price change to btc is pretty retarded.
roi in less then 12 months is pretty good in this game. but you need to factor in that there is like 3+ new companys releasing hardware the next few months
