Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Totally agree, I've been buying as much as I can at current market price because I think it's going to skyrocket in Jan, especially when the code is released for 3rd party client app development.

price dropped in half in one day for no reason. i dont feel as this is a safe investment

the reason was Bitcoin drop

yeah right.

what do you mean "yeah right"  Nxt market cap is only determined by one exchange, Dgex, and you can only trade BTC for Nxt on Dgex, so if the price of BTC drops, it will show a decrease in market cap for Nxt based on the last trade.  Stop trolling, it's obvious with you Emunie profile pic.

He will then have to sell some for bad performance, and then it will skyrocket anyway Smiley

Yeah, I hardly have even close to what most would consider many coins.  I'm not a genesis block founder and if those guys don't sell coins, the currency will be doomed.  So far only bybitcoin and Noitev are helping the cause.  BCNext could have reserved half of Nxt for giveaway, but he didn't.  I suggest that each block founder giveaway 1M coins, otherwise their hoard is pointless.

I do agree that the genesis holders need to disperse of more of their coins.. I started with 4.95M I think.. I've already dispersed 1.55M, both through giveaways and selling.

If the other genesis holders with 10 times more Nxt than me were to give away as many percent of theirs as I have mine.. things would start to look a lot better. I feel like I've done my part.. I still intend to share at least 1M more, but I wont do it until I see more of the founders do it first. There are a few of them doing it, but not nearly enough.

Sometimes I feel like many of them don't understand that Nxt isn't like bitcoin... you NEED to share your wealth or you won't have any at all. Hoarding KILLS Nxt. It doesn't work that way.

I agree with you..and I am currently building..."coinsigner" however its the ability to be able to use the protocol to issue digital property that will make nxt skyrocket past even bitcoin...Thats why the first to market advantage thing is key

The question is - if we have 1 billion and 600 millions will never be used - then it's like we simply have 400 millions Smiley

Isn't also problem with all those forgotten NXT - that are now being given at the cheap giveaways and people will never use them because of forgotten passwords?

BTW here is the topic about hoarding:

I am potentially interested in buying 1 Million NXT.

Can someone please explain its advantages over eMunie and Ripple?

Hmm... the highest bid on dgex right now is 0.00000266BTC. That equates to 1 Million NXT for 2.6BTC.

1) the more you get, the more coins you can forge "mine"

2) Gone are the days of centralized mining and power consumption because its proof of stake

3) Might rival bitcoin right of the bat...if the launch of the distributed exchange on jan 3rd 2014 proves successful

4) colored coin funtionality / digital token for smart property issuance support right off the bat ( I am seriously waiting on this!!!)...this will skyrocket the demand for nxt

some of the advantages over bitcoin as a market player that I can think off briefly...and oh yeah did I say first to market? jan 03??? thats a couple of weeks away!!
