It definitely is cool. People are realizing the potential of bitcoin. And seeing an artist accepting payment in BTC makes me very happy. Soon, there will be days where everyone would start accepting bitcoin.

Really cool, sure. But I definitely won't be surprised if someone else sort of paints over the QRCode and changes it to another wallets QRCode instead.
Also, I couldn't scan the QRCode with my phone, unfortunately.

Lmfao I wouldn't have thought of that if you didn't bring it up. To be fair though, it's probably the most convenient way to receive tips. It's much better than displaying your bank account number, or setting up a tip jar of sorts, at least. This actually looks like a legitimate use-case lol.

I thoroughly enjoy this. First off, the piece of art is amazing by both execution and technical standpoints. Being able to accept tips without standing in front of your work is extremely handy. However my main concern is simply being able to add your own QR code to the piece. Graffiti artists are notorious for going over each other's work (like when Banksy hit New York his work was vandalized within days). Brilliantly executed, but would require installing a piece of plexiglass over the QR code to keep it legit.

It is the start of a new trend, in future people will not carry too much change around so they will use a QR code and donate in bitcoin instead. Sales for street items can also be bought in bitcoin, but it requires standing around while waiting for the confirmations

Freaking awesome this picture is! I was gonna send the artist $5 myself but not having the address makes it impossible for me at the moment. Gonna be cool to see more stories like this in the future, especially considering some of these arts may gather a lot of money.

Sure, transactions could be traced. So for instance, they traced the bitcoin and the bitcoins ended up on the wallet address 3Justanexamplelolhahahahahahahaxd. What do they do now? They can't sort of contact like the "bitcoin customer service" or something. The person could easily get away if he/she doesn't use centralized wallets like Coinbase.

The movement is very good for the promotion of bitcoin. It is important to know that Paris is a big city with a population concentration in the world, and the news of bitcoin is very cool. I think soon there will be more bitcoin messages in some big cities.

They could trace that address because it does look as if it is a vanity address and then trace it back to the entity that published this address.
Everything to do with bitcoins if traceable to a certain extent.
Just look at all the bitcoins that have been confiscated by the fbi and other secret agencies. They have their sources to find out anything. Why else do you think the Trump administration is trying to cover up most of the things they have done being in office for the past 6 months? They ended up firing people and denouncing the fbi so they were not traced back to this president.
But that is besides the point of this post. lol.
If they want to remain completely anonymous then they would use another coin other than bitcoin to accept the donations.
Ones like monero, dash or even verge for that matter.
But those are not as widely known as bitcoin. So this might be why they chose to use this one since anyone who has some on their wallets would just send it if they liked his art work.
By the way he does have a litecoin tip jar on his site and another one when I glanced at the link I posted above.

Indirectly, the artist's work has campaigned that artists support the existence of bitcoin as a method of payment for transactions. Hopefully, the results of this work can make people around the world, especially in the French countries are aware that the technology brought by bitcoin able to improve the economic problems of society.

Paris did it with a style. France is known to it's sophistication in arts and strong economy and advance technology. I wasn't expecting such artistic way to ask for donations in bitcoin. One thing is for sure, we will be seeing more cool things like this in the future. I am just hoping that donations will be sent to the right organizations and not being cut down and donations that ended up being small upon reaching the desired beneficiary.

Donations in Bitcoin, that's exactly what bitcoin was made for. This is a great way to use and to promote bitcoin. And the artwork is worth donating bitcoin to the artist. A great piece of art and with the QR code it's a nice combination with modern technology.

I don't think bitcoin has been made for donations. Donations can promote bitcoin. But donations is not bitcoin purpose. Donations can be also made using fiat.

From the site I bolded and underlined above.
It has his bitcoin address for receiving tips to and has a litecoin / ethereum address if you are worried about the transfer fee being to high for sending in a donation.
