I've been thinking that btc conference don't have to be in San Jose las Vegas Singapore and what not. They can just be bitcoin festival gathering free entry somewhere on mountain, secret beach, or desert, maybe with free crwdfund free concert, just like those rainbow gathering or those art music love festivals on the west coast. I would love to go, it has more soul than the oficial ones.

Ain't more soul than Thanksgiving at Satoshi Forest, where I is now (albeit, penning this at McDonald's here in Pensacola).

I wanna join a band just to tour around the country but I don't have a ukelele anymore. Someone buy me one.

Can you do this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLgJ7pk0X-s

Yeah. What you can't? :p

One of my favorites by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H18aK9HhNSM

ukeleles are like little pony versions of guitars.

And, to top it off, there's a My Little Pony Ukulele convention.  Roll Eyes

Road Trip Update: Just spent 3 hours at Walmart and now have the front tires replaced and the majority of the shopping completed but, upon replacing the tires, another problem was encountered. I need to replace the A-frame arm on the passenger side otherwise that tire was about do a 90o while traveling down the road. I went to Precision and they expect the part to be in in the morning. Luckily, I'm not pressed for time and everything is going not according to plan, but is not detrimental to the overall scheme of things.

Hell, I'm still in Pensacola, FL. Got the turkeys outta the ground this afternoon of which, BTW, weren't fully cooked, but the process is continuing in conventional ovens as we speak. I'm finishing up the signs tomorrow, then hittin' the road to Biloxi. From there, it's to Austin to visit Cointerra's lab, hopefully see Atlas, and meetup with edd. From there, Laughlin, NV, then Las Vegas.

Looks like it's goin' to be a 5,000+ mile trip. Can't wait to be stopped by the cops, asking me why there's two shovels in the truck.

"Officer, you're not goin' to believe this, but I first drove down from Illinois to Pensacola to cook six $100 turkeys in the ground to feed homeless people."

"And who does the tutu belong to?"

"Thats mine! I'm going to wear it when I get to Las Vegas for the Bitcoin conference..."

"Did you say Bitcoin?"

"Yes. You see, I'm The Most Interesting..."

"OMG, can I have a pic of you and me together? It's for my... my... nephew."

Interesting!

What stops a person from giving a cop a piece of paper that has a useless public and private key on it, stating it can be redeemed for one bitcoin, currently valued at $1K(?)? Also, tell the cop it's untraceable.

The above may work until Bitcoin becomes more mainstream, eh?

Glad to see this post, Phin. I was just about to PM you to find out when you'd be in the area. If you don't find Atlas, I'll join you for a micro-pizza. I can't believe you're delivering them in person!

Still around.

You're not going to believe this, but all the micro-pizzas were eaten by a horde of homeless locusts.  Cry

We're going to have to settle on a conventional meal. I'm leaving Pensacola, FL, later in the afternoon, spending the night it Biloxi, MS. After that, I'm heading to Austin, TX, to visit CoinTerra's Lab. It's after that I wish to meet up you. Give me a call at 815-508-1668 so that I'll have your number and to make arrangements, edd.

Will do, Bruno. I'm usually available in the evenings and would prefer to meet closer to San Antonio if it's not too inconvenient. Traffic from here to Austin is brutal after 4 PM, turning it into a 2 hour trip each way for me.

I can just imagine the conversation between my wife and I:

Me: "Hon, I'm headed out to meet Bruno/Phinnaeus for dinner. I'll be back in five hours or so."

Her: "Is that the one with the coffee table?"

Me: "No, someone else has the table, he just has an unhealthy obsession with it."

Her: "Wasn't he posting pictures of she-males, too?"

Me: "You saw those?"

Her: "And now you're going out to dinner with him and you'll be gone for five hours."

Me: "..."

Her: "Have fun!"

Arrived in Biloxi, MS about 8 PM. On the way there, I keep thinking about a certain female poker room manager that used to work at the Grand Casino, prior to Katrina, named Cecere (misspelled, I think). I opted to only visit the Beau Rivage, and guess who was the first person I ran into? Atlas! Seriously, it was Cecere, for she's now the second shift manager in the poker room at the Beau. Even though I now have a long white beard, she said she knew who I was by my eyes.

She then informed me that a 1-3 NL seat was available, so I figured I might as well get a reduced room rate by logging in a couple hours. The normal rate is $79/night. The poker rate is $79/night. Too bad I didn't do my homework prior to putting in the session. I did happen to squeak out a $78 win, having been down $122 and up $143. Not too bad of a swing for not playing live poker for several years.

Somebody at the table mentioned buying drugs, so I plugged Silk Road to see where that would lead. Sure enough, I was soon holding court, discussing Bitcoin with a table full of drunks. Ironically, all but the dealer was aware of Bitcoin.

Left Biloxi late, and just got to Beaumont, TX. edd called, so I'm having dinner with him Thursday night, probably at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Friday, I'm heading to CoinTerra's office/lab in Austin, TX.

Due to being exhausted and the road condition getting poorer and poorer, I had to get off the road earlier than I desire tonight, staying in Comfort, TX, at exit I-don't-have-a-clue.

Got to CoinTerra late due to having to pen a letter to roww.org. They had several meetings going on, but did get to speak with cointerra (user on this forum, not sure if he's used his real name yet, hence not including it) and, moreover, aerobatic from the UK who was still at the lab and has a dedicated thread on this forum easing fears about CoinTerra, of which I concur. This fuckin' bunch is for real, albeit them bastards wouldn't pay me a bribe.  Cry Cry Cry

Seriously, I feel damn good about CoinTerra and you miners should strongly consider adding to your farm some of their miners. It looks like everything will be manufactured there in Austin, TX, oppose to outsourcing the various components across the globe, sans the chip, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm still shittin' that big ass steak I ate at Ruth's Chris Steak House with edd last night. Later tonight, I'm going to see if the complimentary lotion I took from Best Western is any count when I conduct my daily market research over at MFC.

Feel free to stop reading if I provide too much information on this epic Road Trip thread.

While headin' south to San Antonio from Austin, I was tuned to some FM Libertarian station of which periodically gave the current exchange rates of gold and silver and...wait for it...Bitcoin. I wish I could recall what station it was, for it even dedicated a couple segments to Bitcoin as to what's currently in the news.

http://www.khou.com/news/national/234903451.html

Quote
PECOS, Texas (AP) — Transportation officials say a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 10 in West Texas has closed a portion of the highway and claimed the life of at least one.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Santos Carrasco Jr., says the pileup occurred Saturday and involved 10 vehicles. He says one person has died but the person's name was not released.

The Texas Department of Transportation said the pileup was due to icy weather conditions on I-10 westbound at mile marker 192. The accident is about 160 miles east of El Paso and four miles east of the Interstate 20 interchange.

Traffic is being diverted onto Highway 285 in Pecos, and some of it into New Mexico.

West Texas and parts of southeastern New Mexico are battling dangerously icy roads and freezing temperatures this weekend thanks to a cold front.

I'll give you three guesses as to where I'm at, and the first two won't count. According to the receptionist, I won the lottery and got the last room in Pecos, TX, and probably the last room in all of West Texas, if not the entire state, sans the southeastern part. She wouldn't even let me use my $45 coupon (weekend rate, otherwise it's $39 Sunday-Thursday), having to paid $95 plus tax. There was no way I was going to recite some law given my options: warm room or Walmart parking lot, of which is filling up fast from what I can see from my warm room window.

I was about 17 miles from the I-10/I-20 split, when the cops diverted all traffic onto HWY 17, heading north to Pecos. Since we were at a crawl for the last 10+ miles, I asked the officer for more info about the detour. He stated it's 30 miles to Pecos, then get on I-20 to get back to I-10. Conditions, I asked, whereupon he replied that I-20 is fine.

After traveling about 2 miles, now on HWY 17, I asked other officer directing traffic basically the same question, for confirmation, realizing that I'm heading north where the ice should be worse, but once again assured that all is fine.

Once in Pecos, I stopped for a large coffee and figured that going 70 miles outta my way of what was originally a 17 mile stretch would only make me lose a little more than an hour driving time, thus no problem, since I was planning on staying at a New Mexico hotel once I crossed the border.

I asked a third officer, that happened to be in the convenience store about the road conditions heading west on I-20 where, he too, stated all was fine. So, off I head, 40 miles to go to hit I-10, again, and get around the accident the first officer informed me about, since I don't have a smartphone, thus outta the loop.

I had no reason to believe that I-10 was closed due to double checking the TDOT website prior to heading out mid-morning. All was clear, with only construction mentioned.

I got to mile market 20 on I-20, and the traffic was at a crawl, but the road was fine. An hour plus later, I traveled exactly 10 miles, but the conditions changed, with a little bit of ice on the road, but the plants, bushes and trees had a strong layer of ice on them. By mile marker 8, the war zone started, and we were all on solid ice, ice that had been on the road since yesterday, not today, for it hadn't rain.

Cars, RVs, semis, etc. were all over the place, many of which were upside down and had to be cut open to free the occupants. By mile marker 4, I figured it best to get off the exit and head back to Pecos and get a room, for I feared I was going nowhere fast. BTW, when I got off, you could no longer see two car lengths in front of you due to the heavy fog, and the sun was still out with temps in the mid-20's, according to my on-board outside thermostat reading.

On the way back, another long wait due to an accident eastbound that wasn't there earlier. I'll be surprised if there's any survivors in the totaled minivan, for there were multiple ambulances on the scene and they didn't seem to be in a hurry to retrieve any victims. I don't know how fast they were going, but the wreckage started at the beginning of bridge, and the minivan was in pieces way past the end of the bridge on the opposite side of the road.

On top of all that, some guy decided to hug the narrow shoulder to jockey for a better position on I-20 around mile marker 12. Luckily, we were all going less than 5 mph when he bumped into my car, taking off a piece of molding, and putting a slight dent in the passenger side. Upon looking at the damage, I let him off the hook, knowing that it'll probably be hours before a police report would be made, and he claimed he didn't have insurance, and I only have liability, thus fuck it. I already decided that I was heading back to Pecos, and this was before the fog set in.

If I hadn't noticed the exit sign a mile prior to where I got off, I may have missed it if I wasn't looking for it due to the thick fog. For the life of me, I don't have a clue as to why more drivers weren't taking my lead and exiting, opting to continue on solid glass and virtually zero visibility. I'm not sure if their smartphones worked out there due to the nearest city being Pecos 35-40 miles back. I had no signal with my Tracfone, thus assuming smartphones wouldn't be that much better.

The internet here in the hotel is poor due to everybody in the hotel using the service, so I'm told by the clerk.

Just checked the temps for Pecos, TX, tonight and it's suppose to be 14o for the low, not getting up past freezing till 11 AM, but with an expected high of 60o late in the afternoon. Ideally, I would love to be in New Mexico by noon to have any chance of getting to Vegas by Tuesday, for I'm still 940 miles away from Vegas, and at 53 I'm only able to put so miles behind me before I get road worry.

I'm about 1,270 miles from home, and leaving for their tomorrow is even a worse option due to the ice being thicker and colder temps expected up north.

I started typing this post over an hour ago, and have yet been able to post it due to slow internet connection.

EDIT: It's 10:25 PM, and I started penning this post about 8, and that's all I've been able to do on the internet due to the slow connection.

The post above was the last thing I was able to do on the internet last night, giving up around midnight. This morning, I'm blowin' and goin', with no bottlenecks... or continental breakfast after being gouged for a room, but I have no room to complain in that regard, for there's tens of thousands around here worse off than I.

Upon getting a cup of coffee in the lobby, the clerk stated that roads are open but treacherous. Going see what I can ascertain online, with Twitter probably being my best bet.

Guess I spoke too soon. So far it's been 30 minutes and counting, trying to post this.

Looks like the roads are open and the sun is going to shine. Once past Las Cruces, NM, I should be fine. If I make it to Tucson, AZ, tonight, I make it to Vegas on time for the conference, albeit tired and will have to have somebody pick up the pink tutu for me. I already know who I'm going to volunteer.  Grin
