Well this is a good news. If many cryptocurrency miners will support this kind of activity then this could change the way people will look at cryptocurrency and bitcoin. Yes, that's a great news and I have already started participating in this noble cause. This will not only help the charities out there for crowdfunding but also it will help cryptocurrencies to build goodwill across the globe by making aware more and more people. That's pretty cool. After the latest Craig Write article I read about him defrauding government grants to buy Bitcoin mining machines and things like that years ago, under the guise of charity or scientific research, I wonder if actual grants can now be given to Australians who will build massive computer systems to support that UNICEF project, if it is officially recognized. Need to re-validate the news related because of the rise of fraud yan in the name of various charities to help the various crises that exist in this world. Caring for others is important but do not make it just for the benefit of using only ways that are not allowed.

are you sure that is really true ? if yes it is a good news indeed. and if it is unicef, that must be not fraud.
there are many children and peoples suffering and we need to help them. using cryptocurrency is a good choice.

While this is without a doubt good news, I don't think it's going to even be a small percentage of the amount of funding that this group receives -- I doubt it will be ANYTHING or even used at all. You have to think about it, people aren't going to be tossing their machines into utter madness (mining, pretty much taxing their PC's) for charity. I'd rather not do that, and donate my FIAT money to the cause -- maybe that's just me, but that is my view on this topic.

The sounds legit as it was posted in different online news channel like cointelegraph and news.bitcoin. Looks like Unicef Australia wants to follow the foot steps of Showtime and Pirate Bay but instead of keeping the money, they would rather donate the proceeds to charitable works. The only difference is Unicef Australia announced that they are using Coinhive to monetize their site, unlike Showtime and Pirate Bay, users are unaware.

if it's for a good cause I think I agree with that because few people who know and understand bitcoin if we put aside our little profit in the investment I think it's a good thing and needs to be improved

the biggest problem with charities these days is that they are not transparent enough and usually you see that the amount of money wasted in their processes is a lot more than it should be. and in some cases you don't even know if they are actually using your money for good or not!
there is BitGive foundation which is the most transparent in my opinion and it is using bitcoin and its technology to stay transparent and everything can be monitored because of it. if i wanted to donate someday i would choose them instead.

I guess this is very great initiative taken by the UNICEF Australia to fund bitcoin for charity and i also think that we should also help these children atleast once in our life and should be thankful to the god who have made us capable to this extent that we can afford our home and even bitcointalk.org has also provided a column of donate to help these children and i would also like to donate and help such people when i become capable for donationbut yes transparency is very much necessary for donation because there are some orphanage who not uses  charity money for good cause and they themselves use that money for their personal benefit.

My opinion is that if you are earning good enough and you are able to earn al your needs then you should thanks good for this and should help other people who are not even to warn their livelihoods and I guess this could be the best way to thank god and we should be thankful to such great organisation like UNICEF who is such a great initiative in helping these people and moreover our page bitcointalk.org is also provided with a button of donate and before donating please check one thing that is you’re momey is going at right place or not I meant that transparency is very much necessary.

I am all in for charities and I have always said that it is much better using Bitcoin and Crypto currencies for donations to charities, because a much bigger percentage of the money donated actually go to the charity. Not like when you use remittance or Bank services, where a lot of the donated money goes towards fees.

It is strange that they chose mining as a method to generate income, but I guess offering your idle CPU/GPU power and electricity, is just as good as donating money.
