There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Hey, lift your collectivist cap from your head. Any reasonable person has bitcoins, gold, silver and other investments, I know I have. I think the only thing that should vary is the proportions of those investments.

You know, not putting your whole fortune in one basket and all...

not a fan of diversification, personally. i don't think i'll ever own any gold or silver (not as a store of value, anyway).
