Did not see any mentions of this on the knc thread; so though I would start a new thread on, what appears to be, their next-gen chips.

There seemed to be a fairly large consensus on the forum that 20nm tech was years away from being using mining; but now it could be available in a few months.

Anyone got any ideas on specs or costs?

The thread mentioned it as soon as the picture appeared, and then again, as soon as the orders started. All on the latest pages.

At .7 W/Gh, and 2 TH/s, 1 TH = 1000 Gh, so the Neptune will consume at least 1400 W of power??...

That would pretty much max out one residential 15 A circuit.

That's a lot of power and a LOT of hashing power as well.

Pretty darned efficient.

2100 watts per unit if the W/GH figure is accurate; it could end up being slightly higher or lower. Either way they are _not_ "pretty darned efficient". There are other ASIC mining companies that claim to have lower power consumption figures. A perfect example of efficiency is the bitfury chips. They are more efficient on a 55nm manufacturing process than the current 28nm chips. If bitfury were to use 20nm or even 28nm I bet you anything they'd have the most efficient chips of the whole bunch.

I read in an article with the CEO that there will potentially be firmware where the miner sees how much power it will get and assign it's extra (yes it is over-resourced in a way) cores until the plug says stop.
