Clean design
on the front is a bitcoin logo in the middle, "Vires In Numeris" and "One Bitcoin" on the edges
on the back it will be "Genesis Coin", "1BTC", issue year and series on the edges. in the middle it will be tamper evident hologram sticker with serial number on it.

Material
High polished nickel plated brass, it will be nice and shiny but still it will be cost effective to keep the price as close as possible to denomination.

Well to be fair, the OP didn't say anything about pre-orders.

no, not really.. I'm thinking more like this:

1. design 3D coin
2. measure interest
3. manufacture coin
4. escrow
5. spread the word
6. profit

well, I'll be lying if I say I don't think about profit, but I don't want to steal. I believe on the long run I can profit more with good service instead of stealing.

between step 2 and 3, probably I'll add step 2.1 that will be auction for first few coins (all coins will be numbered).
and yes, I'll not be looking for preorders or any kind of payment prior I have coins in hand. As well, I'm open for escrow to minimise risk of your investment.
