We are all used to the price heading m00n all the time. But as the market grows the price may be slowing down... I was wondering what are your predictions for the upcoming year 2014? Will it reach 5000$?

Don't get to greedy or you will loose everything.  I for one would be very exited if Bitcoin manages to proof that it is able to substain a price level like this for a longer periode. But the longer and higher we rise the smaller the chance for this gets.  |
All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update

It's very possible that it will hit $5000, but any effort to guess how much BTC is going to be worth later today or tomorrow is pure speculation.

The robustness of the protocol will be fully tested
Nah don't think so. I think speculation alone can drive the price to $5000,-. Only thing from preventing Bitcoin to be a bubble is adoptation. |

Well, my prediction was that it would reach $5,000, but seeing as how that has so far turned out to be a gross underestimate, I feel I should revise it. $75,000 by the end of 2014 seems more reasonable, don't you think?  |

If this is the effect of Second Market's trust (one little club of accredited investors) - just wait until the rest of Wall Street gets involved. I believe the potential for $10,000 is there, even without a speck of consumer adoption.. only investor adoption.

Think about it this way. Bitcoin became really popular this year mostly around July when it started skyrocketing. Now since bitcoin is a digital technology it needs digital services to sustain it. The increased popularity probably lured the interest of many companies and developers who now want to create services for bitcoin. Now development times for big projects could take 6 months to 1 year so my guess is that in 2014 there will be a flood of bitcoin related services which will make adoption by the regular population easier. This means that more growth is coming, how much? I can't say but I wouldn't be surprised if it is bigger than this year.

I expect a btc to be worth at least $10,000 by end of 2014. Remember the 10-fold increase every year on average.
