So out of curiosity, if Bitcoin gets and stays over $1000 how long will mining be profitable again? Will mining then become profitable at other milestones, say $2000 or $5000 if it goes that high? I am interested in mining but only as a hobby, I prefer to invest and buy Bitcoins right now

would it recommended to buy a bitcoin now? on Coinbase, it takes 4 business days (so on Dec. 4 you get your bitcoin?)...that's risky huh?

Don't buy on a new high. Give it a day or two and see where it's at then. When It hit 900 last week it quickly plummeted back down soon after.

A day or two is long time in bitcoin lately  Tongue

Tell me about it. It's even longer when you're constantly checking markets and refreshing pages.

Bitcoin might drop again but in the long run 1000$ is nothing! Cheesy

Is it currently profitable? You'd need some specialized gear to make any return on your investment at this point.

Let us not forget the mining difficulty rises regaurdless of BTC price.

Hobbyist btc miners will never see many btc(assuming they are just using the gpu they have anyhow).

You can make some real money if you invest some real money into a hardcore asic rig like what is pre-ordering from cointerra atm.

Well, time to jump in here I guess.  Been wanting to post on other threads, but can't yet.  Amazing times...  $1000 bitcoins.  A colleague and I had a conversation a year ago and talked ourselves out of buying ...  mining or coin...  boy do we feel silly now.  But... not too late I don't think.  Might not get the same profits as we would have, but better late than never!
