Hi,

I am a Canadian with a CAVirtex.com account that seems to be taking forever to get verified (I've uploaded my information 3 weeks ago and it is still in pending status).  In the past I would just go to the bank and deposit funds to their account - but now it seems that option is gone.

I would like to deposit $10,000CAD somewhere to buy bitcoins - CAVirtex seemed like the best choice.  Since it is now a disaster and there is seemingly no customer support, can anyone recommend any alternatives for depositing $10,000CAD to buy bitcoins?

Many thanks

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Hi there,

Unfortunately in Canada, there isn't much else you can for buying that much in BitCoins.
I've been waiting 3 weeks not to get verified at CAVirtex. Apparently my Driver's License was missing a corner (even though they are rounded lol) so I had to re submit it.

I've been told that there companies where you can make a deposit to a bank account at a branch and do it that way.

Do you have any friends or someone trustworthy in Vancouver that can deposit your money at the Bitcoin ATM?  That might be a good way as well.

The quickest way is QuickBT.com, unfortunately it's limited to certain bank accounts, and is limited to $50 purchases right now lol.

I'm trying Bitstamp.net right now ... it looks like it might be a good alternative.  Seems like they accept international wire transfers from Canada.

I'm trying to get money out of CAVirtex and they told me it will take 2 weeks to get verified. Considering how much money they charge (1.5% plus $6 per transfer), I think this is ridiculous. Why do they even need to verify the account for withdrawals?!?! Are they worried I will send money to someone else's bank account?

There's a serious need for competition in the Canadian Bitcoin exchange market.

Vaultofsatoshi seems to be the best alternative. Verification times are supposed to be less than a business day, and I can confirm this as one of my friends recently signed up and was verified quickly. It's a lower-volume exchange, though, and prices are higher than Cavirtex. Another option is Localbitcoins.
