for me who uses faucet, its not. hahah . just a waste of time but i still earn some satoshi. I visit landofbitcoin.com. There is a list of faucets there. You dont have to visit each link one by one, Just press visit next site and it would direct you to other faucets. If you have plenty of time to do faucet or typing captchas , faucet may be profitable for you (only if you dont have money to invest).

i already searched on this, because i want to have my own faucet. If you want to have your own faucet you need the codes and your own local server. Try to visit this https://www.microwallet.org/api.

there are 2 answers to this question. It can be profitable if you have a lot of traffic and many advertisers and not if there's few of it. You gain income from your advertisers.

I'm using some faucets and even if i don't make a lot, i still get bitcoins from it

There's some  faucets with hi-lo games or dice games so you can try to multiply your winnings
For now, i got exactly 750k sats i made from faucet + tips + dice game in a month.. so that's not bad..(and that's on 1 site only, hint: check sig)

Everyone will says that 750 sats isn't worth a lot of money today, and its a waste of time etc.. but i take the guess that the price is gonna go up soon or later..

freebitco.in was fun for around 1 day then I gave up.
Don't bother just work for your bitcoins.
Also in 2010, Gavin A. gave away 5 bitcoins at a time to several hundred people in a faucet called bitcointap

even before clicking in anything two pop ups showed up... its the worst type of faucet imo.

To the topic. the greatest thing about faucet is : when a new faucer appears and you get a lot of referrals on it. that would work good.

for example in the dogecheckin.com that pays in dogecoin. only for referrals i get near 1k doge weekly without doing a single captcha.

I suggest using some sites like freebitco.in and you can even earn up to 0.001 weekly. its good if you dont want to spend money in bitcoin but want to understand how it works.

They won’t accept a brand new site in their advertising program since they have strict Terms Of Service about site age and content. If you already have an approved site with Adsense, it’ll be easier to place your faucet on the same account you’re already using for the other site; but you will still have to know their TOS and abide to them if you don’t want to get your account disabled by Google (which often happens to many Faucet sites using Popup/Popunder, annoying advertisements or when the content is inappropriate).
You will also need to implement a privacy policy, ToS and about us page and few other things (everything should be in their ToS tho Smiley )

Do you find it worth it?

Well, where do I start? Faucets, at this time, are used by newbies to get a feeling of BTC, don't expect to profit from it, unless you are very, very, very lucky, a hacker or an owner of a popular faucet.
I've been using faucets for one or two month, and I've only made maybe 2-3$, when BTC had a price of 1000$. So don't even bother.
No, I don't find it worth it because it can take too much time and get you nothing more then dust that you can barely gamble with.

True the bitcoin price could go up, but you could also use $5 to buy bitcoin every month, and save the many hours you spent on faucets.

I do not see, where people get to the "many hours you spend on faucets every day" and "it's a waste of time...."

In the morning, you login once and keep the browser open for the whole day in the background, whilst you do something else. {Tested it on 5 faucets and it took me less than 5 min}

During the day, you go back to your 5 faucets and solve 5 Captchas every hour {Tested 1 min per faucet}

If you do 5 x faucets every hour, 8 times a day, it takes 40 minutes plus the 5 minutes, it took you to login = 45 minutes per day.

The average payout per faucet recently is 500+ per hour. {FreeBitco.in / BitcoinZebra ......}

500 Satoshi x 5 = 2500 Satoshi x 8 = 20 000 Satoshi per day. {+/- 10 cents US per day }

Now let's say, you living in one of the 3rd world countries and your currency is 15 times weaker than the US Dollar { 15 x 0.10 cents = 1.5 <Insert your currency here>}

So if you living in a 1st world country 10 US cents per day will be a waste of time, but when you live in a 3rd world country and your currency is weak against the dollar and you get paid in dollar, it is worth it.

Let's say you keep your earnings for a month and the bitcoin price double. { 10 cents per week x 4 = 40 cents x 2 = 80 cents and then x 15 to convert to your currency = 12 }

This is for one person using the faucet. {If you had 5 tablets, recharged with solar power for every member of the family with it's own sim card and unique address --> 12 x 5 = 60 <your currency>

All of this, from a waste of time faucet.  Grin

grosminer was talking about getting 750k satoshi in a month, and I was talking about many hours spent on faucet every month.
Where did you get the idea I was talking about "many hours every day"?

If you spend 45 minutes a day (as in your example) on faucet, you are going to spend 22.5 hours a month.

Some People spend 4 hours a day in front of the television = 120 hours a month and it brings in NO money.  Wink

I see what you saying .... tho and I agree with you on your point, but I still think that is productive and better than doing nothing or watching TV.

There are better ways of earning money, but if it's your only income, it's better than nothing. {I live in a country with very high unemployment, so for most, it would be their only income}

20000 satoshi is not much but is still better than 0, and if that is the best opportunity you have, you should take it and fully utilize it.

Faucets are profitable only if have thousands of referrals in your downline. Maybe just the first ones who signed up on Freebitco.in and spread their ref links all around social networks, forums, email, ect. earned something relevant.

Based on my experience, I earn more here on bitcointalk by doing signature campaign (newbie) than in faucets.

I agree with others comments regarding having many referrals on faucets. It would give you better profit.

I also do live in a third country and it is far better for me to earn cents or more per day in front of my PC than doing nothing to gain profit.

By the way, if you have decent job, go to it. If none find one. In my own opinion, do not depend on business on the internet.

Let's talk about a real example..
I just spent exactly 3 minutes playing a dice game. I started with FREE faucet from the site (I'm lvl 14 so it's 1436 sats.) Then i played the dice game for exactly 3 mins, that's 180 secs, and i was able to reach the minimum payout: 50k sats.

That's 16.7k sats/min, way more than 500/h !!

And guess what? i can try again because i get 1436 sats to play EVERY 3 mins. Do the maths..

and that's for you. Not everyone's a lvl 14 on that dice site, also maybe someone isn't good at gambling or has bad luck. You can't look at it that way.

They serve a double purpose :

1. They stimulate business through advertizing
2. They provide a income for both the owner of the faucet and it's users.

You see it as Spam, I see it as the above. Even the Captha's providers, earn money from this. {Tripple Wamy}

Are bitcoin faucets worth it?

most faucet sites give you like 2 ubtc, and to make 1 bitcoin it would take a couple thousand
submissions.

who uses faucets? have you made 1 bitcoin?

Do you find it worth it?
faucets will pay 200 satoshis on average if you visit 10 per hour and every hour for 10 hours it would be
200*10*10= 20000 satoshi per day so it would take 100,000,000/20,000=5000 days=416month to get 1 BTC

on my part, it is worth on its own. I did tried and up to now, doing faucets, and made about 0.03 btc out of it alone. If you dont have anything to do, (like me), collecting satoshi is worth your time.

Haven't faucets always been a waste of titime though? When they gave away larger amounts each bitcoin was worth less than a dollar. Maybe it might seem like a waste now and in the future it turns out to be worthwhile

So I tried out some faucets earlier today, just as an experiment to see how much Satoshi I could actually earn and how long it would take. So, I went to microwallet.org and opened up every last one of the faucets it linked me too (the ones that worked) and I also did it with land of bitcoins or w/e (there was some overlap). Had about 25-30 different pages opened and for bout 5 hours straight I went and completed each of the 30ish faucets on queue. Most could be completed once an hour, some were 15-30 mins, and 2 were 5 mins I believe. My microwallet is now sitting at 7.4k satoshi (roughly 2 cents) and amongst the other faucets not linked to microwallet there is an accumulated 11k satoshi (roughly 3 cents). so over 5 hours of solving captchas i earned a whopping 5 cents. Now granted, I didnt spend the whole 5 hours solving captchas, but I did spend bout an hour hunting them all down, and then another 25 mins each hour doing the captchas to claim the satoshi. So all in all, faucets are a complete waste of time right now. You never know though.. That 5 cents could explode in value to 5$ or more in no time.

Not so much. With faucet you can earn a very little quantity of bitcoin, but you can not be rich with faucet, at least you have to got 10000 referral to earn a big quantity of bitcoin with faucet  Grin Grin. But consider that 4 years ago, the older faucet gaves you around 0.1-0.5 bitcoin !

Yup, you can only get some cents for spending an hour on faucets. It is much more productive to spend your time on something else like learning and working.

I like this one QoinPro, that I consider is the best faucet.
Take a look at QoinPro, its a place where you can learn by reading various articles and news, plus get various Free Coins (BTC + LTC + Others), just sign one time and earn daily.
(click at right upper "Skip Ad" button to go to the site)

Visit qoinpro here no ref or redirects.

As an alternative to faucets, you can give BitcoinGet a try. It requires a little bit more effort, since you earn by watching videos or completing simple tasks, but the payout is much greater.

Qoinpro the best faucet??

It's a nice one since you don't have to do annoying captcha's etc to get satoshis.. BUT
It take years to reach minimum payout!!

I joined on feb 2014, i have 50 referrals, and as today, i got a total balance of 12594 sats..
the minimum withdraw is 15500k and the fee is 10k ..
I registered 252 days ago, my balance is 12594 sats for a total of 49 satoshis/day.

I can make way more with other faucets...

Yup. The thing is: don't even count how much money you make NOW, your job is to collect Bitcoins and HOLD em. Even if it's really small amounts..
If it ever reach +1000$ again, then you'll find is wasn't a waste of time..

Bitcoin Faucets is less profitable than pan handling, but I suppose pan handling actually is pretty profitable.  On the other hand though, I don't think many people will be able to swallow their pride and pan handle so faucets are easier in that you can hide behind your screen without interacting with anyone.

True lol.
From my calculation, you cannot get more than 10 cents an hour from faucets unless you have a huge number of referrals or you are really lucky in sites like freebitco.in.

Panhandling or dancing like Mr Bean in a crowded place should get you more than 10 cents an hour. Tongue
