Litecoin has gone up proportionally even faster than BTC over the last couple of days from .015 BTC each to over .02. Given the maximum litecoin can be is .25 BTC you may still have some room to buy. Any forum idiot can point out the price history of a coin, the key challenge is what will happen going forward, and that obviously no one knows. However, it seems that LTC will get more attention as BTC gets more and more out of reach, for example peerbet just added litecoin.
My guess is LTC will stabilize somewhere for a very long time and investing in it will be useless to make a quick buck. NVC's price will keep changing and be easy to make a quick buck if you're lucky/quick/smart enough to do it.

ltc is the only alt coin with any value. I would grab some if it manages to dip in the next week
NovaCoin seems to be worth something as well. For a long time it was worth more than LTC but its losing its drive it seems. I honestly would go for NVC over LTC but that's just a gut feeling. I don't know all that much about NovaCoin, so I may be wrong here, but I think the draw of Litecoin is that it's similar enough to Bitcoin, except that it uses scrypt it will be more difficult to build FPGAs or ASICs that can mine them more efficiently than GPUs. This means people who can't afford a nice fancy ASIC can still mine them with their GPUs. Granted, it's entirely possible that some other coin will become more popular, but for now it's LTC. I agree, NovaCoin (NVC) has higher potential than Litecoin, also inovative proof of stake concept not just Bitcoin clone as Litecoin is
I should look into NovaCoin, that sounds cool. Edit: I did some looking and another thing the Litecoin has going for it over NovaCoin is that, just by google-ing the name, Litecoin has a website where you can get a wallet, whereas NovaCoin is a little harder to find.

Never heard of Novacoin. Must look into it.
I thought I was ahead of the game with Litecoin when I bought 10 coins a few months back. I put them in an online wallet (LTC-WALLET.COM) and a few months later without warning the site went down and never came back up. Turned out to be a scam. A realk shame but you live and learn!

Then you haven't seen NVC and NMC.

Guess its time to get a machine up and running for Litecoin mining. Glad I have a spare PC available, is it recommended to have a higher CPU or more RAM for this kind of mining?

It's all about GPU mining. A CPU won't give you a high enough hash rate to make it worth it. I've got a Quad Core Xeon only giving me 20KH/s which is like 0.01 LTC / day. My old NVidia 9600 GT can mine that fast and NVidia cards are pretty bad at mining. AMD cards are much better for this kind of task.

Ah, the blog I was reading talked about CPU mining for Litecoin, this makes more sense compared to some of the other stuff I was reading. Good to know, thanks.

GPU. CPU is useless for all coins unless just starting out.

It would seem, at least for a little while, that buying a nice AMD GPU to mine with would pay for itself pretty quickly.
Ordered a R9 290x today with that concept in mind.
Other than throwing 3 cards in one machine, what's the most efficient way to GPU mine today?

litecoin seems way overdue for a crash. i wnated to buy in at $12, but at $36.. it's way overvalued. there is no infrastructure to support it. it probably won't crash below $10 though.

Bought litecoin at 2,8 dollars. Sold half of it at 31 dollars. Saving the rest when it hits 250. Loving it.
