I have no knowledge on making this happen for real...but how cool would it be if you could play a game like Ingress (which is already very much like a game form of Geo-caching), and yet when you capture things you get a payout in coin which you can also use in the real world to trade against bitcoin, etc.

Just a random thought...posted in a place where someone might actually take it and run.

If you actually make this...please feel free to share some of your mad profits with me for giving you the idea, cheers.

I put this in the Technical forum...mainly because it would require someone technically inclined to do anything about it, if there is somewhere better I should post it, feel free to move it there.

If you outright steal the idea...at least give me a beta-test pass, lol.  (history of Ingress suggests Google stole the idea from someone else already).

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I'd be surprised if Bitcoin would not soon become the medium of transport for in-game perks and currency from one game to the other.

Indeed.  I thought about this after hearing that MCXnow will be re-released with gaming that you can win crypto with.  Made me think...what if Ingress offered a reward for taking a portal...in the form of bitcoin...and apparently with extra code to ensure no one is gps hacking and doing it from home.

Haha.. I am fairly new to the game, but am a crypto miner, so I had this idea too.  You beat me to it by months.  I would love to see this happen also, but I am not a coin developer either.

There is something similar:
http://www.coinding.com/

{ Imagine a sequence of bits generated from the first decimal place of the square roots of whole integers that are irrational numbers. If the decimal falls between 0 and 5, it's considered bit 0, and if it falls between 5 and 10, it's considered bit 1. This sequence from a simple integer count of contiguous irrationals and their logical decimal expansion of the first decimal place is called the 'main irrational stream.' Our goal is to design a physical and optical computing system system that can detect when this stream starts matching a specific pattern of a given size of bits. bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=166760.0 } Satoshi did use a friend class in C++ and put a comment on the code saying: "This is why people hate C++".

i thought about something similar.

a game like world of warcraft, or minecraft. it doesnt matter really, but i think that most computers will work with this will need a lot of pc power so i think it would be best for a really small game.

you install game, run game, now you computer is actually mining and you are playing a game at the same time and for example in world of warcraft the money that is dropping are now coins that you get from monsters you kill. the inflation is distributed fairly with blockchain and everything.

you can also use the currency outside the game (create new wallets usw). would b perfect for trading items in the game and so on.

possiblities are endless with this.

nice...and they figured out how to fund it.  I love the idea of physical geocaching with bitcoin.
