I had this repeatedly from my girlfriend. Sold 40BTC to recover £4500, was left with about 30BTC, this was only about a month or so ago... WORST MISTAKE EVER!
But buying right before big correction would be worst mistake ever as well. The fact is trend is upward, but no one knows the price in next month, so every can make worst mistake ever. Though buying is always bit safer bet in long term upward trend I bought my first BTC at $240 before the sharp correction that came at $266. Was it in the red for a while? Yep. I'm having a really hard time right now calling it "the worst mistake ever" when even that 2.23 BTC is now up 480%+

And you held through the summer? My respect to you, I know it must've not been easy.

And you held through the summer? My respect to you, I know it must've not been easy. Sure did! I converted some LTC -> BTC from mining but really only bought more with dollar cost averaging. I wouldn't have been able to without listening to other people's stories of regret for selling (lots on here) - so I had some help! The principles of Bitcoin are just so sound, it's hard not to see that it was (and is) worth much more. As infrastructure continues to grow and it's accessible to the mainstream (especially hedge funds) I think we'll see another few big jumps in recognized value.

They have been saying "cash out" since we hit parity with the dollar. I will not be cashing out ever. I will buy with bitcoin instead.

That's the right way of thinking because most of the die hard bitcoiners just hoard and don't spend or investing on anything whatsoever. And that's the worst thing that can happen to bitcoin. Everyone that hopes for bitcoin to happen and sits on top of a large stack must invest in services around bitcoin.

Almost everything I buy with bitcoin I get at a discount simply because the coins are worth more when I spend. I don't want dollars, I want better money, I want bitcoin.

My brother sold his 6 coins at $375. Needless to say, he seemed a little disappointed over Thanksgiving dinner.
My dad took me aside and told me to CASH OUT MAN. CASH OUT NOW! GET OUT!
Nope.

I don't need my friends to make a decision, so I won't. Probably the best thing in my opinion to do is to sell some small parts of BTC sometimes. As I'm effective trading BTC to other coins and back with some profit, my amount of BTC keeps growing. I think I will in about 2 weeks start this procedure; sell a part of my profit and stack a part of my profit. If it may crash someday, atleast I earned something from it

I mean if you bought really low, and you haven't sold ANYTHING, then I think you're being irrational. Sell just a little, even if you think it's going to $10,000

That makes sense also. If you cash out, or save via spending the amount you put in, you can't lose.

too many tax implications at the moment, and i think it will continue to rise.. hold, hold! people who have no idea what bitcoin is, but just know that i've made a decent amount of money off it tell me to sell as well.. but if they tell you their opinion on something they dont understand is certain, i don't put much value in what they think.

If you still buying, like bit every month, you may sell or spend only if you buy more next month. This way you may accumulate few Bitcoins even with very small investments you can save from not important things you can live without
