Being relatively new to the world of bitcoin can anyone advise where I can sell my BTC without using an exchange?

I don't wish to sell now but would like to know options for the future?

The exchanges I use for trading tend to charge a huge % for withdrawals and can take ages to get.

Any ideas?

There is a site called localbitcoins where you can sell your coins to other people looking to acquire them in your general area.  I'd say it is  right up your alley.

It might be usefull to state where you live, as this is different. We, Dutch Bitcoin holders for example, can make use of Bitonic (www.bitonic.nl).

It's really great, you can buy Bitcoins within a few seconds and sell them fast too Wink.

{Curently quite inactive as I'm really busy in my private life. I will get back soon!}

Yes, it does matter where you are.

But I think the easiest and most comfortable method of buying/selling btc is with people you know.

I've sold Bitcoins several times on LocalBitcoins and found it to work really well. I did two transactions in person and four transactions as "cash by mail". All of them when off without a hitch. I also like that you can use a formula for your sale price. For example, 8% above Bitstamp.

fake money can fool even the most experienced people. You need special gear like some markers that detect fakes and even those fail sometimes.

Localbitcoin is by far the best option. I have completed 100s of transactions recently without a hitch via EMT/Western and Face to face Transactions at the local starbucks (which by the way is a great way of meeting fellow BTC enthusiasts!)

Good Luck!
