He probably gave up because of all the trolls/clowns hounding him for no reason.

I remember reading about 30 of the same post repeated over and over how he was starting an investigation of MyBitcoin. Perhaps he's busy?

he has been lurking for the past few days, after he was exposed as being a home schooled clown with a GED and a degree mill diploma.

I know he has been reading the board because I had my avatar as an image of him that I found on a public website and he reported me for a copyright violation.

the current image I use as my avatar was completely hand drawn and is copyrighted by me  Cool

He sounded to me like a nice guy, that was seriously attacked by SA nerds. He seriously just presented his idea at a terrible time when nobody wanted to listen. Sound like he was trying to take advantage of the whole mybitcoin.com debacle. Regardless, I hope he doesn't give up because a few nerds on the Internet wouldn't play nice with him.

I told him to take a break, since he's just hurting himself and the forum by constantly justifying himself to the trolls.

I'm not an SA goon (though I have read their Bitcoin thread), and I don't recall posting in any of his threads - however... his idea was a crock of shit. Nothing about his story adds up, and I wouldn't trust someone like him to run any sort of voluntary regulatory body for Bitcoin. If he was doing a one-man band and put up or shut up, without begging for donations and showed some real results he might have gotten some traction.

Instead he told a bunch of stories that don't pass the tiniest of critical thinking... there's a bunch of people on the UABB board all of whom want to remain anonymous? So why even mention them? What do you possibly have to gain by claiming to have a bunch of help but no one wants to stand up and put their reputation on the line?

The stories about his school(s), the stories about his work with law enforcement... it's all really thin on the details. By the same standard of evidence he's using, I've been involved with US federal law enforcement, RCMP, and several state LEAs - wooagh!

It's not necessarily trolling if all you're doing is refusing to partake in the Bitcoiner circle-jerk at every new business idea that comes along.

I think he came across as someone who was involved with bitcoins for like a day and then announced "I'm going to do something great for the community, donate bitcoins to me". That may or may not be true, I have no idea. (Though I suspect it is because he said a lot of things that just didn't seem likely to be true to me.) But I think that's the way he came across to a lot of people.

This is very unfortunate, too, because it's creating a downward spiral. People who are legitimate are afraid to bring their ideas forward because they will be believed to be just another scammer. I've wanted to float the idea of a bitcoin bounty project (to arrange contributions for bounties on the most wanted bitcoin client improvements) and haven't done so for just that reason. (Well, and also because I'm not confident I'll be able to put enough time into the project. And also because I'd like to claim those bounties and that would create a serious conflict of interest. But you get the idea.)

This has convinced me never to trust him.  You obviously put a lot of thought into the reasons not to trust.

First FooDSt4mP, now Matthew N. Wright.... so sad when entertainment leaves the forums.

At least we still have Mr. Wrights emotional, heart felt music videos on the Youtubes Cheesy

I still think he was a non-intentional "scammer".   Just a guy who has a lot of good ideas but needs to follow through with them himself before posting about them.   People are way too harsh on him, however his dealing and reactions to how people are to him could be worked on as well.

I feel his idea merited consideration. Merchants outside the Bitcoin community constantly reinforce the idea of security on their web sites with this badge and that badge and "tested by whomever" badges. People want to feel safe. Bitcoin usage doesn't have the safest feel to it so maybe an organization that champions Bitcoin issues is valuable. It just turned out maybe Matt wasn't the #1 candidate to run an organization that is meant to instill trust.

He had talked about "UABB is happening even if i'm not involved" so maybe if he's truly that passionate he could work with others to continue it just not with him involved in any titled position. Just throwing some thoughts out there...

I've read a few posts to the tune of "if Bruce Wagner is involved then you know its an honest project". I haven't been here all that long but for what its worth I would think whatever you (Joel) are spearheading would be something I'd have more faith in than most others whose posts I've read.

I would totally let Joel scam me  Kiss

Seriously.  Scammers though I have yet to stop me from trusting those who I already have had trust in based on their words alone.    Can't stop using all goods and services, otherwise the terrorists win.

I was interested in helping him, but he requested "Legit" information.
I'd like to stay as anonymous as possible.

I was going to go with it, but he started to spam...so, I decided to drop the whole UABB support.
