You know its gets worse. After sitting there for 360 seconds intervals.... - "You have exceeded the limit of 5 personal messages per hour."

Well the more you post the more this will go down.

The biggest annoyances here have to be the scammers.

They are entertaining though. Plus, they're easy to spot and troll.

i'm subscribed to no less than 10 different forums
this is by far the worst when it comes to all the rules and regulations
the 6 minute waiting period is also very annoying
and no it doesn't stop spam
because spammers can also wait 6 minutes

It might not stop them, but it at least slows them down / makes things difficult. It's more to stop ddos attacks.

No, the biggest annoyance is how we treat each other, even though we are all part of a leading edge smart community. But I guess it comes with the territory of geeks tending to be bad at socializing. Nearly all employees complain about their IT person lacking social skills but they are just jealous that we know how to do stuff.  ;-)

seems like if you are unable to ddos a site people simply choose a different attack method
anyways, i think [Suspicious link removed]hould allow accounts without password as the password gets revealed to the hackers anyways

In my opinion it will take far more than 360 from the last submitted message to open a new thread, read the content , write a full response , not +1 or and hit the post button again.
It's also made to prevent useless posts.

It's not foolproof; just a precautionary measure.

yeah, I just registered, but I really wonder what happened here in the past for the mods to come up with these restrictions.

But hey, it's their house so live by their rules. I manage a forum myself, so I know how hard it can be sometimes.

The hardest part for me is that you can't post in any of the interesting topics, because you have to get a certain level of posts before being allowed to do so. Thus creating a climate where I need to spam for a while prior to participating in the discussions that really intrest me  :p

The rules that we cannot post under 6 minutes is really annoying. I'm an university student and I only have access to WIFI internet. And for some reason another people on the campus is also posting right here on this forum. So pretty much the only time I can post here is during the night.
