Professional adoption, perhaps the beginning yes (but rather 2019 with the number of ongoing projects).

For a massive adoption (aka the general public) probably not for several years...

This year, several aid agencies, including the United Nations’ World Food Programme, started exploring blockchains for aid payments. Sending money across borders using cryptocurrencies potentially reduces fraud–because the blockchain records every step of the transaction–and lowers transaction fees. “Smart contracts” allow aid to be delivered with conditions: for example, payments are released only if recipients can confirm they’re the correct beneficiary. Unicef and the World Bank are both set to launch blockchain projects next year. In 2018, blockchain could be adopted for a slew of other uses, including health insurance, medical data, cleaning up the advertising industry, voting, improving food safety, renewable energy, enabling refugees to own their digital identity, helping the homeless, and even orchestrating a universal basic income.

Year 2018 may not very realistic of massive adoption of blockchain but year 2020 awareness should be total because since the most important international organisations already adopted it i.e worldbank, unicef etc

Is 2018 the year of massive blockchain adoption?

Because of the last years hype many people are more aware about crypto and blockchain in general with hyperledger slowly developing their own blockchains for business and with the cloud companies in mind that offer you the ability to use your own private blockcahin and that they are selling it to others we could see many companies that will be looking into blockchain.

But don't forget the real purpose of lockchain it is to cut of the middleman and let us relay on the protocol, where as businesses are trying to still be middleman and implement blockchain within their centralized and private systems.
