Gotcha, dollars not btc.

Agreed, it is a neat little video talk for informed newbies, audience was buzzing about it so stick it up somewhere prominent for newcomers.

The timing is just right for BTC, it is an idea who's time has come, this is what gives me a lot of confidence ... I've been investigating these monetary problems for over 15 years, first as a hobby and then keeping an interest with gold/silver investments I accrued back when I was student on RA salary in the '90s. People are now widely sick of this crap being piled down on high from centralised money systems and their nepotistic, corrupted hangers-on. As communism showed, centralised systems ultimately collapse from the corruption they breed, the temptation for tapping the power is too great for mortals.

Good stuff. This video should be on the front page of bitcoin.org.

Definitely. Ok for Gavin?

Sure.   sirius:  after getting the 0.3.20 release out, I want to work with you (and everybody else) to make the bitcoin.org website more newbie-friendly.

How often do you get the chance to work on a potentially world-changing project?

Good stuff. This video should be on the front page of bitcoin.org.

This is definately the best video about bitcoin that has been made so far.
It should be posted on the frontpage as explanation, used as an advertisement and posted to YouTube (of course).

there's this 15.000 BTC bounty for a bitcoin video
does gavin's talk qualify for that? : ))))

You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do.

That particular bounty is for an animation.

But da2ce7 pledged 100 bitcoins for "a video with real humans", and I think Gavin's video qualifies for that.

Admittedly, da2ce7 went on to say "preferably someone hot, maybe your girlfriend" but this was only a preference, not a requirement.

I doubt any glamour model could have spoken as convincingly as Gavin, no matter how much she rehearsed her presentation.

Feel free to remix it.

Thanks! I remixed it into a short article:
How is Yap stone money similar to Bitcoin?

I'm paying one bitcoin for each article contributed to that site, so feel free to PM me your receiving address if you'd like a coin.

I have used that video now to introduce people who couldn't understand what I was talking about to Bitcoin in a way that they tell me that they want to join the project. Thanks Gavin!

Yes. We also need to solve the server problem. It's currently unable to handle big traffic like slashdotting, which we'll surely be getting more of. Making the main page static helps a lot, and using lighttpd could also be considered.

Are there a lot of interested parties in the Amherst MA area? I'm in the area. Maybe we can put a group effort together getting merchants in the region to accept bitcoin?

We could move hosting of it to AppEngine. It's just static files after all.
