Hello everyone, fantastic forum and I have just started with bitcoins and I am slowly learning the ropes

I have been using the instructions here to install cgminer on a centos system and I am having a lot of problems. Being as I am unable to post in there to ask I will ask here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170516.0;all

That is the origonal thread. I get a lot of 404 errors when trying to install the SDK packages , and also I get this error when trying to start CGminer.

./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://mining.eligius.st:3334 -u 1NQc6tCtRmT8zBeLKNpboFaUBMLcxDwUm6 -p x0 -I 9 --per-device-stats 2>logfile.txt
 [2013-11-29 13:58:55] ./cgminer: -I: unrecognized option

or would someone please point me in the direction of other instructions, that I could possibly try for centos.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Seems to me that you are running one of the newer versions of cgminer that doesn't support cpu/gpu mining (I believe that was the reason I read).  I recommend grabbing 3.7.2 and try it again.
