Still worth it or buy and hold?

Is mining still work it these days or is the best bet to just buy an hold BTC?

I'm obviously talking about ALT coin mining lol,

Some of the alt coins might not be profitable at the current market price. But, if you have confident with a certain coins that will increase in value, then mine the coins. How to spot the good coins? You have to Look around and do your research.

But why would this be better than buy cheap now, hold and hope its price will increase?

I'd say buy and hold. BTC for a big investment or alt for several smaller investments.
