Thought I'd chime in with my recent experiences with XPM. I'm running an AMD FX-8350 OC'd at about 4.4 GHz and running jhPrimeminer_RdBBeta4/0F_x64 in the Ypool.
Through a lot of research and Googling, I have finally figured out some of the switches in the command line.
Cutting to the chase, here is my current setting:
jhPrimeminer.exe -t 7 -m 61 -target 10 -bttarget 9 -o
http://ypool.net -xpt -u workername.XPM_1 -p password
From my reading, here are what the switches I have do:
-t - is used to set the number of threads running on your processor. I am using 7 to reduce the load on my processor a little (just to make sure that my computer remains usable for GPU mining as well). Some recommend using 2 threads/processor, but RdB said that he didn't believe it made that much difference, so I am only running a single thread/processor.
-m - this sets the "Primorial." Depending on your processor, you may want to increase of decrease this value. The default is set at 43, but better processors can be set higher. I believe that 100 is the highest possible, but not recommended. I find that the 61 RbD recommended in his thread to one miner, works great for me.
-target and
-bttarget both have to do with the targeted chain length. The default is 10, but rdebourbon suggested that it might be worth experimenting with using 9 in one of both of the settings. At 9,9 I was getting a 6/7/8 ration of about 17/5.5/0.86, but I never saw a 9chain . . . which sucks, because 9's contribute so much more to your shares.
At 10, 10, I saw fewer over all chains, but I did score 4 9's in about 24 hours. So the choice is more shorter chains and fewer long chains, or fewer over all and more of the higher numbers and shares.
My PPS with 10,10 was about 22-24000 {I believe that the jhPrimeminer that rdbbourbon built multiplies the PPS by 10 compared to other implementations, because a PPS of 2400 is about par with what I've seen for other processors.
When I went to 9,9 my PPS jumped to about 28-29000, and at the current 10,9 my PPS is running at ~23000/
I will give this run (10,9) a few hours to see what my 6/7/8/9 ratio is, but I suspect I will be returning to a 10.10 setting.
That's about it for now.
Edit: I have been running at 10,9 for a while now. My 6/7/8/9 per hour ratio is 10.49/4.19/1.05/.35. Totals are 31/12/3/1
Note: I am still allowing the program to auto-tune.
